I graduated in December with a degree in AGBU, major GPA was somewhere around a 3.8, while overall GPA was 3.3.
txglovedropper is right about AGEC 317, definitely a hard class, but I had it with a different professor and ended up with an 88 in the class through sheer hard work. The AGEC department is definitely one of the best departments people-wise you could ever be a part of. The duality of the major really gives you options as to what you want to do for a living, although I chose to stay on and get my MAB (master of agribusiness).
If I hear one more person saying that Agribusiness is the major that the football players take, when it's really AgDevelopment, I am gonna rip someones eyes out and stuff 'em down their throat. It's a tough major, and your two capstone classes are going to be tough if their taught by the same people I had.
AGEC 440 with Ng is full of theory and only has a mid-term and final, with two group projects mixed in. Trust me when I say that on the first group project you will get reamed for your ideas, no matter how good they sound to you. That's just the way Dr. Ng is.
The other capstone (I forget the class number) is taught by Salin. The class is nothing but busy work and while I understand finance much more than I used to, that class is just daycare to her. She focuses more on her grad level class, and had our TA at the time do all of the grading. When you think you're done with papers, worksheets, peer reviews, and group projects, she'll spring more work on you just to keep you busy. I don't think I've ever had a class that had so many things that needed to be graded.
I'm not trying to scare you away from the major, because those people in the know definitely respect the degree. Hope I helped you make a decision.
