i have a 3.2 right now, it might drop after this semester though.

when i applied in 2002, i applied as agribusiness because my sat wasnt high enough get into the business school. the good thing about an agribusiness major is that we are in both the ag school and in mays.

i take all the core business classes, info 303 and 364, mgmt 363, mktg 321, finc 341. other non majors take these courses but their all 309's. i dont have to take a lot of the bs agec classes because i can take these upper level business classes.

the hardest agec class is 317, quantitative analysis. it's a calculus/econ/stat class that is always taught by a chinese prof. it's tough, but tutor john has sessions for it and knows the ins and outs of the class. the hardest business class is finc 341. the cool thing about the business classes it they are generally very interesting, except the infos, and apply to the everyday world.

another positive about agbl is the department. the agec dept is awesome when it comes to working with students and making sure everyone is on the same page. i know everyone in the office and its like clock work everytime i have to go in there.

as for my future plans, i'd love to get into the cigar business. however, because my degree is also from the business school, it gives me the ability to do something totally unag related. also, you cant beat the networking that Aggies in agriculture provide.

don't underestimate the major because of the ag prefix. it's tough, but it's very relevant to the world. i like it. hopefully it will be very good to me after graduation.

asian chicks can be hot, but they need to be mixed with somehting else. i guess white women are on top of my list.

I was agbusiness but switched to ag econ when they started the new tracks. I have a 3.8 so i didn't switch cause it's easier like most people so. The above mentioned most of the general stuff so i wont add much to that. The department has changed alot over the past 5-8 years so lots of older folks bash the major as a joke and as being real easy, but it's not like that anymore. Our department pretty much runs the college of Ag student organizations like COALS student council and Alpha Zeta. I'll second that we probably have the best advisors on campus and i could answer any specific questions you may have. After graduation I plan to go to grad school in the LERE program in the business school.

I graduated in December with a degree in AGBU, major GPA was somewhere around a 3.8, while overall GPA was 3.3.

txglovedropper is right about AGEC 317, definitely a hard class, but I had it with a different professor and ended up with an 88 in the class through sheer hard work. The AGEC department is definitely one of the best departments people-wise you could ever be a part of. The duality of the major really gives you options as to what you want to do for a living, although I chose to stay on and get my MAB (master of agribusiness).

If I hear one more person saying that Agribusiness is the major that the football players take, when it's really AgDevelopment, I am gonna rip someones eyes out and stuff 'em down their throat. It's a tough major, and your two capstone classes are going to be tough if their taught by the same people I had.

AGEC 440 with Ng is full of theory and only has a mid-term and final, with two group projects mixed in. Trust me when I say that on the first group project you will get reamed for your ideas, no matter how good they sound to you. That's just the way Dr. Ng is.

The other capstone (I forget the class number) is taught by Salin. The class is nothing but busy work and while I understand finance much more than I used to, that class is just daycare to her. She focuses more on her grad level class, and had our TA at the time do all of the grading. When you think you're done with papers, worksheets, peer reviews, and group projects, she'll spring more work on you just to keep you busy. I don't think I've ever had a class that had so many things that needed to be graded.

I'm not trying to scare you away from the major, because those people in the know definitely respect the degree. Hope I helped you make a decision.
