Two of my kids just took the new online version of the PSAT 8/9 and we were told the scores would come in 4 weeks. How can it take that long to get the results of an online test? Anybody with recent experience know the answer to this?

Probably because the tests are curved

This and that not every school district takes it at the same time.

Here's another question while we're waiting - my kids took a practice test and the scale was maxed out at something like 1400 or 1440. Can you get an accurate equivalent on a 1600 point scale score simply by prorating?

For example, a 1300 out of 1440 would equal 1444 out of 1600?

More or less, probably trends a little higher since the base score is not 0. I would recommend just taking a bunch of practice test so when you take the real thing you know if they performed to their ability or not .
