This question is actually for my daughter. She is a rising senior and applying for admission for fall of 2024. She wants to eventually go to graduate school and practice clinical psychology. She is able to do so with both the allied health and psychology major, but is worried about acceptance since her first choice is TAMU. If anyone has any general advice on these two majors, in terms of acceptance rates or any other advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

Allied Health is going away. It is being absorbed by Public Health, and I don't think anyone is being admitted to an Allied Health degree plan starting this year.

The admissions thread for TAMU Class of 2028 on College Confidential will likely be very informative for you.

My precious daughter who worked so hard, I'm posting this for her. She fought so hard through the pandemic and other life challenges and obtained the following GPA and SAT. Do you think she will be admitted?

GPA: 4.3
SAT: 1300

Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas,

Joe

P.S. would you please pray for her? Her name is Christine.

Class rank? That and the SAT/ACT score are by far the most important criteria…..well beyond GPA, extracurriculars and the essay. May also depend on the major she applies to.

With a 1300 she will be below the midpoint score for applicants based on the 2023 admissions cycle, and likely for 2024 when those stats come out.

For reference, my son has a decently higher SAT score, 30 ACT and great GPA with strong course rigor, service hours, athletics and leadership….and he has not been admitted….yet. It's tough.

If she's a junior, the best thing to improve odds if she is holistic review would be raising the SAT, probably by 100+. If she's a senior it's just a tough waiting game at this point.

Best wishes to her!

Class rank and major mean a lot along with the full application. If she gets Blinn Team that could be an even better result in the end, I think that's a much better way for a lot students who are on the bubble as they get all the perks of being a regular student with a path to entry and they don't have to take classes with 300 kids in them as Freshman.

Think positive and remember it's a marathon not a sprint. You can't control admissions so plan for the worst and hope for the best. If you keep all your hopes in a regular admission it can drive you crazy. In the end there are many paths to being an Aggie if that is her dream.

Good luck!
