So, here's the deal.

I went through a lot of issues my freshman year, which I just finished. These issues led to my GPA being absolute trash, and I was on academic probation last semester. However, my problems were not resolved in a timely enough manner, and my GPA still wasn't over a 2.0

The question I have now is, what next? I am (was?) in the college of engineering, but are they just going to kick me out and wish me good tidings? Is there some sort of appeal that I can attempt? Or am I stuck knowing that I failed out of Texas A&M?

Anyone with experience on matters such as this?

You will want to contact your academic adviser. They can guide you on your options. It is possible you could get suspended for a semester and have to apply as a readmit (http://admissions.tamu.edu/readmit). But please go talk to your department for advice.

I'm in a similar situation,. I tried to sort out my issues and didn't manage to improve all of my classes (was one % away from a B in a class that would've gotten me a 2 overall, but now I have a 2 point deficit). I also ended up doing extracurriculars and out of curriculum engineering projects in the probationary period on top of everything to try and compensate for the past semester... Wish I had the hindsight to realize it was a bit too much before it was too late...

Is there a chance that students can appeal for an additional probationary semester? I know it's probably rare.

I had issues freshman year. I was able to appeal, but my appeal was based on being diagnosed as adhd, and backing from a few professors.

Talk to your advisor! They can talk you through the options you have. I know some people that had to transfer out of engineering and find a different department willing to take them.

Your advisor can talk you through your options. That's what they are there for, to advise you.
