Has anybody done Blinn for a year and then applied as a transfer student? I heard about the TPA program as well. What is that?
Any input welcome!

I was Blinn TEAM for my first year. I believe that each and every friend I made that was also Blinn TEAM successfully transferred to A&M in the first summer (along with myself).

I would definitely recommend Blinn TEAM to a prospective student. If you have any questions I can try my best to answer them, having done what you are trying to do before.

Are you referring to TAP (Transition Academic Programs)? There is a link with FAQs that may answer some of your questions: https://tap.tamu.edu/Main/faq.aspx

Could you be a little more specific?
There are a number of threads on this forum about transferring, but it is helpful for readers to know:
Intended major/college
Current high-school student? If so, AP credit, dual-credit? How many hours of dual-credit?
Is student accepted as Blinn Team via TAMU or attending Blinn as a Blinn student?
Has the student read the TAMU webpage regarding transferring http://admissions.tamu.edu/transfer/apply or are you looking for general information about the classes, etc?

There are usually some current and former Blinn transfer students who respond on this forum.

Hope this helps.

There is a huge difference between Blinn Team and straight Blinn. My daughter is going to Blinn since she was offered PSA, she is hoping to transfer Spring of 2016 since she has Dual Credit Hours and is willing to take the remaining hours this Summer and shooting for a 4.0, she is going to meet with the College she is interested in to find out exactly what she needs, since you have to be accepted by the specific College for Transfer students. She knows there is no guarantee she will get in that soon, but she is going to work her butt off to make the grades to transfer as soon as she can.

My daughter was offered TAMUG but, for many reasons, chose to go to Blinn and apply as a straight transfer back in 2011. My son was just offered TEAB and given his aspirations we would not have gone the Blinn route but gone to TAMUG. We are thrilled he received the TEAB offer because we were so happy with Blinn. When my daughter was there. So it really depends on your major. I don't want to repeat what I've already posted if you have been following other threads but my D transferred to AGLS AG ECON. Go see advisors. They help tremendously. She was able to meet the tamu requirements and was accepted in March of her freshman year pending her spring grades. I'm happy to add more info if you need it. Post what majors you are interested in and people can give you better input. Visit department pages for prospective student info. Realize there is almost no guaranty for anything but it is very possible to get where you need to be. I think the TAP program has phased out.

Cagberry, did your daughter have any dual credits? Did you look at taking any Clep test to be applied towards the 24 hours? My daughter is looking at ALED and Community Development.

She had twelve hours dual credit.

Minimum Transfer Admissions Requirements:
2.5 GPA
Must select ALED as first choice major
Must discuss interest in agriculture and leadership in essay
Must have completed less than 90 hours
Less than 40 hours: Must complete at least 21 hours of core curriculum including 1 core curriculum MATH
More than 40 hours: Must complete all core curriculum

Cagberry, did you look into Summer School at all to get the remaining 12 hours?

No. We didn't realize until she was at Blinn that she had a shot at spring transfer. Her original plan was a transfer the next spring. That is definitely a possibility if your D will do it. Does she have any dual credit, ap or clep?

She has 12 hours Dual Credit, so we are looking at her taking 12 hours this summer and trying to transfer in the Spring. We are meeting with Admission's and the Agriculture Advisor this week for direction on what classes she needs to take to transfer.

She did not apply for Spring term. She met all requirments for Ag Econ when she submitted her application by taking her second math over the winter mester. I would recommend applying for Fall term and focusing on the highest GPA possible.
