Howdy,

I'm a junior accounting major and am taking accounting 327 this fall. I was looking for an individual tutor in college station.

Preferably not a student because I will be needing a lot of time for tutoring. Pay will be good. Please let me know if anyone in BCS might interested or if anyone knows someone.

Thanks!

If this is your first time taking 327 I would suggest taking it with Cassidy. She is always generous with helping out on problems.

Also, before you resort to tutoring I would suggest going to the TA and getting student study groups together before paying for tutoring.

Might I ask why you already expect to need so much tutoring right off the bat?

Not to be mean, but if you are already expecting to need that much tutoring for Acct 327 (the first acct course specifically for acct majors) you may want to rethink your choice to be an accounting major.

I took 327 and did fine, but it helped me realize I would rather do finance than accounting. It isn't that hard, just have to take good notes and do the practice problems.
I took Knight, she was great at explaining things.

I'm taking Cassidy, I've met her a few times so I'm excited about taking her.

All my family is accountants and CPA's and they all said 327 is a mother, plus I'm trying to get into the PPA program and want a good grade obviously...

You don't need a tutor. Read the book, go to class, and do the homework. The 327 book, if they are still using that thick blue one, is a very easy college text book to read. If you read the chapters before going to class, pay attention to lecture, and work on the assigned problems, you will be fine. The class requires work, not a tutor. Best of luck, Ag. Hopefully, I will see you during recruiting next spring.

I was in PPA and ACCT 327 was the hardest accounting class I took, followed by Tax. I didn't study much. If you just go to class prepared, study with some other students, and do the practice problems (maybe multiple times), you'll be fine. -- I didn't do any of these things. That's why it was hard for me.

I wouldn't waste $$$ on a tutor.

PPA grad here. I would highly suggest finding a group o ppl to study with. Like others have said, do all the practice problems and read the book. I still have that acct book and crack it open when I'm working on some areas I haven't seen in a while.

Getting a good grade in that class is due to the time put in. I would imagine it's still the same, but conquering that class will help you a lot in terms of getting into PPA.

Yes, as long as you can find a good group to study with you should be fine. Usually at least one person will grasp a concept others might be struggling with. Cassidy is a good choice. 327 isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be, you just need to approach it as if it is so that you take it seriously.

I had a tutor only for the final exam at Tutor John. A good number of my class was there for it. It helps but there's nothing like preparing yourself as the semester goes on.

Just take that class seriously by taking good notes, studying with a group, and doing all the problems. Ask any questions in class or with the prof in office hours. You'll be fine and remember you need it to take any other class in ACCT. I had a hard time but I pulled through. Some people drop but do well the second time so don't get discouraged if you aren't able to pull through. Hard work pays off

Have to agree with some of the above posters and this is for any course...if you intend to pursue something as a career it shouldn't be so difficult that you feel the need to have tutors, over-study, etc.

Make sure this is something you really want to do, but more importantly don't overthink it.
