Howdy,

I recently got accepted into the Master of Construction Management program in the College of Architecture here at A&M.

Does anyone know anything about it's reputation? I know their undergrad program is ranked well, but have not heard much about the masters program.

Thanks!

My slightly ignorant thought is why?
Engineers and contractors will learn more on the job than they can in grad school. I don't think you'll earn much more with a masters than with an undergrad COSCI degree. Unless you're undergrad is in business or economics or something else unrelated to construction.

John, I have to agree. You are slightly ignorant or maybe just ignorant. Not sure how the Masters program is but there are two parts to being a Contractor. The first is the easy part, building something. The second is much more difficult, the business part. If you don't make a profit, all construction amounts to is a hobby. To be a successful contractor you must know about law, insurance, bonding, finance, H/R, AND construction. If the Masters program improves your understanding of the non construction side of construction than go for it. The same applies to engineering, especially CE.

I haven't heard much about the masters program except that most companies actually prefer to hire students from the undergrad program. This is why i chose to do a post-bacc in COSC over the masters program, but again, it depends on your background. I went through the ENDS program, so it only took 1.5 years to get a post-bacc..coming from a different background might be a little different.
