If he/she needs help during the upcoming Fall/Spring semesters I would be willing to help (depending on what course, and assuming youngproud will be in CS at that time).

Don't have any advice for the Summer, sorry.

Ah, well business math (the one with all the probability and such, right?) was never a strong suit of mine. Calculus is a different story. Good luck to him!

Does YP13 have to take 141 at TAMU? If he/she is not strong in math, that may be difficult in a 5-week term.

Thanks again, young was told by advisor he must take this Math class prior to fall. Wanted to take it online but was not able.

I've heard that the one by Fat Burger (A+, I think) is good for business math. If it's 141 he should try that, for 142 (business calc), any engineering student should be able to help him for a couple bucks or drinks. I had great success tutoring a couple 142 students without having taken the class. There is nothing particularly challenging in 141, but it frequently does take more brushing up from potential tutors since it's such a hodgepodge of limited/specific problems.

Also, I can't remember if Amy Austin (math lecturer at A&M) does 141/142 reviews. If she does, YP13 should take advantage because Amy Austin is pure awesome.

Opinions on Tutor John???

Tutor John does good work. He explains things very well, and made a lot of ppls lives easier because of it. I would recommend him. Granted, I used him for part of a semester almost 6 years ago, so things could have changed.

Tutor John is the man. I tried A+ and 4.0 didn't work nearly as well. He knows the teachers testing habits really well. I went to him for my final(after going to the others) in Math 142 and for all of my stats class.

I can only speak on behalf of A+. I bought a season pass there for Math 152 (Engr Math 2) and they were a lifesaver. I did however have plenty of friends who went to Tutor John for 141/142 who enjoyed/benefited from it. The 141/142 guy at Tutor John is callous, outspoken and crude though so if youngproud is put off by any of the above he might not be as receptive. FWIW

As a standard, remember this:

Engineering Majors: A+ Tutoring

Business Majors: Tutor John or 4.0 and Go

What the guy above me said. If you're an Engineering Major, A+ is DEFINITELY the way to go. It's unbelievable how much Ali helped me.

For 141/142, A+ is helpful, but Tutor John is good too. But to be honest you can youtube help on those topic.. they're all very straight forward
