I plan on taking the following classes this summer:

MEEN 221
MATH 251
POLS 206
HIST 106

Good idea? Yay or nay? I work hard and had a work load of 18 hours Fall '09 and 17 this semester (Spring '10) is summer school that different? I mean I know it's 10 weeks not 15 so technically is 18 hours (1.5*12hours) but still?....

251 and 221 will have alot of homework and youll need to study...learning concepts working problems u know the engineering type B.S.

the POLS and HIST will be different....lots of homework but more reading, writing papers etc.

251 and 221 will be 10 week classes...take either the POLS or HIST for the first 5 week session and see how it goes...if its to much dont take the other one during the second summer session

You could also look into taking the POLS and HIST online through a community college like HCC...way easier then at A&M

This.

I took my HIST class as a Maymester at a community college. I'm not much of a history person, so it was really really nice to get that out of the way with in 2 weeks.

I wouldnt do it

I took MATH152, PHYS208 and ENGR112 all over the summer at the same time, it was super less than fun.

Any reason why you want to take so many classes?

I would think 251 is probably going to be the most challenging of that set. Statics wont be bad if you somewhat understood phys 218. Pols and Hist - the work load really varies depending on the prof. I had some profs in those type of classes that didn't make us do any work outside of class (aside from studying for tests) and I had others that would make us read novels and crap all the time.

and its definitely possible.

I took 20 hours one summer (to get my ring faster), including physics 208 and math 251 and did all that while I helped as an orientation leader.

251 isn't that bad. 152 still gives me nightmares, 8 years later.

Take pols and hist online or through blinn or your local cc. The other two are a lot of working problems and very intense so you probably wouldn't want to be reading some book or writing papers at the same time. Take the pols in a maymester and the hist online over some other summer is my advice. Hope it helps!

MATH 152 was easy for me, but man, I just can't visualize anything in 251. If you get a good professor it may work, otherwise, may want to take it out and take it in the fall.

Get an internship or a co-op before you take summer school. You can always graduate a semester later. Yes, you may be behind in classes but it's better to be behind in classes than work exp/money.

I'm an ME that will be graduating in December, and my advice is two-fold:

1. If you can get an internship, do that instead of taking summer school. Internships get you really far with companies when you're looking for a job.

2. If you decide to do summer school, I'd stick to only MEEN 221 and MATH 251. Both are gonna require quite a bit of HW and studying, and those HIST and POLS classes are gonna have a lot of required reading that isn't hard, but will drain your study time. Plus, if you really want to enjoy summer you shouldn't load yourself up so much. Leave yourself time to enjoy summer with your friends as well as complete the classes, so you don't get burned out on school.
