Libs & Halloween?

I am not a person who appreciates or celebrates Halloween. With that said, I can still tell who goes all out. Every time that I see an award winning Halloween yard, they have a Talafreako sign in the yard. I know libs are ghouls, but it's still shocking. Not in a vote or overwhelming sense - just in that it could be a commercial display -- and then you see the freak sign.

Godless libs or paid crap?

Halloween is much more celebrated and popular than Easter.

I was working at a school with a super insane lefty chick. I was told she takes the day off after Halloween every year because she was exhausted from "casting spells." Apparently Halloween is her most special day of the year.
She was the one hugging kids the morning after the 2024 presidential election to "console" them.

We have some weirdo libs across the street from us. The oldest daughter wears a cat tail and ears to school every day. My daughter went to hang out with their middle daughter one day and was told to call the cat daughter they/them. My daughter also sent a text to the middle one when she didn't make the volleyball team and said a prayer for her. She responded with "the earth has great things for you". Needless to say, she's not allowed over there anymore. That being said, they have the most elaborate, decked out yard in the neighborhood. They love them some death and ghouls.

Most incredible display around here is as conservative as anyone I know, but he's done it for decades.

But the proliferation of Halloween displays is kinda wierd, with the 20 ft tall stuff.

The one time of year, that dressing like a prostitute is excepted.

I'm a witch, if she was a hooker. I'm little Miss Muffet. I'm sure you are.
My demon woke up this morning telling me he was tired. I handed him a red bull & said "come on little buddy, we've got chaos to spread"

It's a sort of preparation day for a religious holiday but that is regarded as more secular ly acceptable to participate. It has also become something fun for family to do that kids enjoy, but has no particular obligation to it, and it's commercialized. It's not that surprising though it may be sad.

I'm conservative. Halloween is awesome. I have a great set up for the yard at Halloween. Get a lot of compliments from people in neighborhood. But, my neighbor, who is also conservative, goes all out and has a much better display. Even changes themes every year. Not everything has to be related or ruined by politics.

I see it like Disney. The enjoyment should be for kids. Adults that get into it hard are weird.

I am not sure your point but sounds like an attack on Christians. Halloween is not recognized to be more celebrated than Christmas. Halloween is secular and not a good apples to apples comparison.

All Hallows' Eve, commonly known as Halloween, occurs on the evening preceding All Saints Day (Gregorian calendar). Samhain (pagan) signifies the conclusion of the harvest season and the commencement of the Celtic new year on November 1, of to the Celtic (as opposed to the Gregorian) calendar. November 1 in the Celtic calendar consistently begins with a full moon, which fell on October 25 this year. Consequently, Samhain eve should have observed on the night of October 24. The pagan participants have unfortunately overlooked Samhain by a week. Wishing them better luck next year.

In College Station, there is one house that always does something cute with skeletons in their yard. This year, they are doing a salute to the movies and have the skeletons dressed up as characters from The Wizard of Oz, ET (complete with a skeleton riding a bicycle in the air across a full moon), Rocky, It, Men in Black, and many others. Most of the people I know look forward to seeing what they come up with each year. They have never had out any political signs that I have seen.

Catty Corner from them, more or less, is a liberal wackadoodle house. Always have the liberal signs out from, Pride flag hanging on their porch, etc. They also go all out for Halloween, but their theme seems to be more along the lines of "The Discount Halloween Section of Home Depo Threw Up." They try hard but, as is the case so often with libs, they completely miss the mark.

Agreed. I have to wonder at the abject level of hatred for all things good that resides within the walls of such houses.

They are big children. They seriously have the mental and emotional makeup of 6 yr olds. They hate Christmas and Easter (and especially Christians), so Halloween is naturally their superbowl. When you see how committed they get with their costumes, you can see why there is such an overlap with the dem party and the furry and fetish community.

That being said, I love Halloween just bc it's fun trick or treating with my child and the neighborhood kids and watching them form core memories. Luckily she doesn't have to carry an Astros souvenir bat in a pillowcase for the little ese's who might jump you for candy like daddy and his friends did.

My guess is that generally liberals are more imaginative or see themselves as imagination driven then republicans.

So naturally an imagination driven holiday has better participation by people who are more imagination driven.

This gets into further issues of how Christians and conservatives have turned arts into an enemy.

I'm a church going Christian, have my kids in private school, vote red and my yard is decked out. Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year. Been that way since I was a kid.

I'm a religious Christian and a Republican, and I enjoy Halloween. I don't decorate my condo, but I always buy candy and I will wear a costume tomorrow, Also, I always participate in the annual TxDOT Financial Management division's Halloween Bash.

OP is a stretch. Halloween is not only my birthday, but the best neighborhood holiday out there. Our entire neighborhood goes all out. We shut down one street and have 2-3 food trucks camp out for the night.

While there are a few Talarico knuckleheads in the neighborhood. One house's decorations are better because the two guys living there are "creative." They even have great Christmas decorations!

I love sitting on the driveway with some scary movie projected on my garage door and handing out candy. The kids always end up in our driveway by the end of the night.

The wackadoodle house had an anti-ICE sign. My dog may or may not have peed on it.

That street is very popular on Halloween. It is also very liberal with a sea of Gina and Talarico signs. I counted exactly one sign for a Republican candidate.

Some weird outrage over this topic. Growing up in the 70s and 80s Halloween was f'ing huge. If you want a good representation of it, go watch ET and look at their neighborhood when they go out for Halloween in that movie.

That's how it was in our neighborhood growing up in the Bible Belt of East Texas. Hundreds of kids everywhere all over the neighborhood. You couldn't even drive down streets.

Celebrating Halloween has largely been abandoned compared to back then for reasons unrelated to religion or politics. It's just a different environment and culture now. Parents won't let their kids breathe without tracking them on a damn phone. They sure as hell aren't going to let them go outside after dark and do Halloween. Back to that, we had no parents accompanying us back then. We were packs of kids out raising hell trick or treating. Only the toddlers had parents with them.

So now when you see someone actually celebrating it and having fun, we automatically assume politics or religion motives behind it.

Same with July 4. We had massive block parties for July 4th. That also largely doesn't happen anymore.

Halloween just needs to go away it is so wrong on almost every level and is very apt symbol of almost everything wrong in America

Too much consumerism
20 foot skeletons

Too much sexualization
Sexy costumes

Too. Much alcoholism
Adults using it as an excuse to get smashed

Too much look at me

An excuse for teenagers to misbehave and embrace their inner Vandal

And the upper middle class is paying for too much of it because that group of people is handing out most of the candy
