I'm seeing a whole lot of posts and effort being made on social media to get out the vote. Christians need to vote or we will lose our country! If Dems win its because Christians stayed home!

While I don't disagree, the problem is we have. And yet Republican after Republican has turned out to be a turn coat. They either turn out like Dan Crenshaw and Ted Cruz and eventually get so comfy they just blend in with the crowd or they get sidelined like Marjorie Taylor Greene, Rand Paul and Thomas Massie.

The Rs had all 3 branches these past couple years and made things WORSE!

There's a billboard on I-35 South as you head in to Temple that quotes exactly what Trump said. "I will lower prices on Day 1!"

I've been a pretty strong Trump supporter overall, but this term has been an abject failure, so don't try to guilt trip me now.

"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

Idk about you guys, but OP has me convinced that we should vote for communists who don't know what a woman is.

Sorry, the internal polling and the early ballot returns. Don't seem to align with what you're saying. The exact opposite is happening.

I will say that the enthusiasm on the right is noticeably not as energetic as in the past.

There's barely any signs up over here, and this place is as maga, and Trump friendly, as any place.

News stories are everywhere talking to Trump voters who are not happy with him and many are either saying they're going to vote for the dem candidate or not vote at all because they can't vote for a dem. Regardless, it is an interesting thing to see, especially after all the redistricting that was done to help the GOP win in the midterms.

Part of maturing is understanding that most of the time in politics you are voting for the lesser of 2 evils and there are at best a handful of politicians that are decent people. If you want to turn Texas into California or NY then stay home or vote D. If you want Talarico to vote on who replaces Alito or Thomas than do the same. If you want to have an open border and destroy what protections we have for voting so your vote is irrelevant that's your call.

Just don't complain later. If you are looking for perfection in politicians you are a fool. The smartest vote has always been to limit governmental power and that's an easy choice between the parties. The real irony is most of the problems in the GOP is because the RINOs have lost so much power and they are fighting tooth and nail to hold on.

The only thing that has gotten worse is the public's propensity to fall for left-wing psyops about how life sucks...and you're welcome...

Quote:

In the 1960s Arthur Okun invented the "misery index," the sum of the inflation and unemployment rates, as a gauge of economic success. On that, Mr. Biden scored 12.7 in June 2022; Mr. Trump 7.5 now. Even if we create an augmented misery index, adding gasoline prices, diesel prices and average mortgage rates, Mr. Biden still comes out "ahead," 29 to Mr. Trump's 25.

By just about any measure, the economy is in much better shape today than it was four years ago, yet the incumbent gets lower marks.

There are several plausible explanations. Voters care less about the relative softening in inflation in the past two years and more about the continuing cumulative increase in prices. After decades of almost no inflation, prices have risen by 25% since 2020. The incumbent is paying the price. Voters may also see a clearer link between Mr. Trump's policies and their current challenges than they saw with Mr. Biden. Tariffs and a war that has pushed up energy prices both directly feed higher costs. There is also the sense that the benefits of the current economic strength are distributed even less equally than usual.

Maybe, but even in the election two years ago they were very much out there compared to today, and I am seeing Hinojosa and Talarico ads, even out here, and maybe one Abbott and no Paxton sign.

It may not foretell who is going to win, obviously, but it does show who is enthusiastic about their support and who isn't.

What CAN they do when they do NOT control the Senate. Yes, they hold more seats, but they don't have the votes to overcome a Democrat filibuster. I wish they would go back to the talking filibuster. That way they could still get some things done.

But even when R's are not doing anything to benefit you or the country, at least they are not actively TRYING to destroy the country like the D's do.

Yep. Even if there's some fatigue from Republicans, this is an election where the minority party is supposed to be enthusiastic and motivated - and that doesn't seem to be case for the Democrats. History shows the incumbent typically loses in a mid-term more often than not. It's expected. But the enthusiasm for the Democrats just doesn't seem to be there this cycle. It feels muted, even with the typical media cheerleading.

If bill clinton could get newt Gingrich back in office then they'd have something.

1990's Bill clinton would be a right wing conservative these days.

Somehow I get the feeling Republicans will lose the generic vote by 3-4 points because New Yorkers and Californians will show up in droves to vote against Trump. But it's going to be a struggle for Dems to get the votes where they need them.

We've spent the last ten years watching Dems attack Trump supporters, destroy their property, etc.

No one with any common sense is tossing a maga sign in their yard and firing up a neon sign for the crazies on the left to come attack.
