I don't claim to have an opinion on that topic. Three decades ago, Canada was a mess when I visited for the first time. It still is. I have no idea who was running the place when I was a kid.

Actually, I am inclined to defend Carney, but not the liberal party. Carney is a technocrat who has been in elected office for something like 18 months. I don't actually think that Carney believes anything. He strikes me as a guy who is trying to right the ship.

It is absolutely wrong for the United States to show contempt for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of a NATO ally. I despise this particular aspect of our foreign policy.

Here are some things about which I am quite sure:

1.) I do not understand Canadian politics. I don't even understand now Montreal and Alberta consent to being part of the same country with Toronto.
2.) An attempt to annex Canadian territory would be a political disaster for the United States. Their political culture is too different from our own.
3.) The recent conduct of our trade diplomacy inflicts instability on legitimate commerce and imposes taxes on American businesses.

We live in an odd period of time where territorial integrity exists all over the world because one nation says it does. Canada can't defend itself from an invasion, their sovereignty depends entirely on us. Now, they have some great natural defense built in but if we wanted Canada to be a state they would be a state. Canada has no say in that.

Not too long ago the Houthis seized Saudi territory and they begged the U.S. to take it back for them. When we didn't step in they turned to China and asked them to beg Iran to help. WTF? If you can't defend your territory is it really yours? For all of history humanity has had to defend its territory in order to actually keep it. Except for now apparently.

Nations are lines in a map. If you can't defend your home it's yours only because I haven't decided I want it. Yet. We've forgotten some basic truths, unfortunately.

And that's the crux of all of it

Canadian Liberals depend on the Cold War relationship with the US where we subsidize their defense and let them take advantage of us in trade so that they can spend way more on socialism than they naturally could if they had to rely on fair free trade deals and pay for their own defense then the Liberals would not be able to offer all their socialist goodies to stay in power

The Canucks are going to find out the hard way why unfettered immigration actually does to a culture.

With regard to Canada, I think mostly about the problems of the Peninsular War. Napoleon's opponents multiplied, when everyone realized that being his friend was no more advantage than being his enemy.

No, they aren't. They're American first policies. Not sure why you have an issue with putting America first.

Americas economic policies and immigration policies have been more to the benefit of other countries than they have America. And that's wrong. Trump's trying to correct it. For America.
