Ed Sheeran is on tour.

Macklemore is an opening act and says "Free Palestine" during a performance.

Robert Kraft says tour can't make its stop at Gillette Stadium if Macklemore is performing and gets other stadiums to agree.

Tour drops Macklemore. Sheeran says: it was the promoter's decision, not mine.

Other opening acts start pulling out citing free speech, genocide.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/us/article/opening-acts-are-abandoning-ed-sheerans-tour-after-macklemore-was-dropped-over-his-pro-palestinian-comments-211418941.html

A great example of "shut up and sing" being the best course of action.

Ed Sheeran doesn't even need any opening act to be honest

He owns it so he can do what he wants. Wasn't a taxpayer funded stadium. Now if it was one of the places the taxpayer help build then I would have a problem.

To be fair he didn't just say, "Free Palestine." He went off on a ranting diatribe.

Good way to ensure that you are never more than an opening act, and maybe not even that.

Seems a tad ironic that artists want to shout "Free Palestine!!!" from the stage when it was innocent young people freely attending a music festival who were among the first victims on Oct. 7.

An extremely talented and super popular international mega star who looks like a guy who would be flipping signs for a mattress store on a street corner.

Too many egos in the way here.

Sheeran shouldn't divide his fanbase by political group if he wants to make more money. Going off the way he did was a perfect way to do that.

Macklemore should have told Sheeran that the way that he and Sheeran could make the most money was by not dividing fanbases, and that they should work together to make money, and focusing on the music is the best way to do that.

This is all one gigantic cat fight on both sides, and is stupid.

While Macklemore and Sheeran are pissing on each other, stadiums are empty that could have been filled with paying fans, who will now spend their concert money on some other bands that aren't full of themselves promoted by business people that want to collect that money in order to entertain.

Stupidity on all sides here.

So many wrong takes in one post. It's almost like you haven't read anything about this.

For the record, Macklemore has also been quietly banned from the Century Celebrity Golf Tournament because of his political rants. He's just a moron who wants to be " cool" to other celebrities.

When has music and politics ever been separate? It's kind of stupid to expect musicians to not run their mouths about politics. Maybe back in the classical music days, but pretty much any act in the past 100 years ends up doing something political. From Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, Dixie Chicks, Pearl Jam, and on and on.

This has been rapper has a record of being openly antisemetic going back almost 15 years. So, if anyone is to blame, it's Sheeran's booking management team do not doing their diligence
I'm not a fan of his style of music, but I've got a good appreciation for Ed Sheeran's overwhelming talent. After watching a documentary he did where he traveled through the NYC boroughs in one take (I think?), singing songs to different crowds before arriving back at a matinees concert of his own, I can't think of many solo acts that could be as successful as his.

Macklemore also has a history of going on stage dressed up as a Jew (big nose prop and all) and giving Nazi salutes. Then trying to say it was just some random get up. So theres that.

Well the primary driver was Kraft saying the kid wasn't welcome in HIS stadium. So that drove the point with nixing that opening act.
Pretty sure Kraft is Jewish

Opening acts are a dime-a-dozen.

Kraft is a man of honor. Case in point, he pays for his hookers and does not "stiff" them Paul Pelosi style.

And yes, his house his rules.

Dolly was this way too.

They care about their fans regardless of their background and want their music to be a place for people to escape all BS in we have to deal with in the world on a daily basis.

We need more of that.

Exactly.

Is Kraft the kind of person I'd want my kind to become? Fk no. There are wealthier people who aren't slime like him. At the same time, it is his house and his rules.

Also, as for Mackelmore, I'm sure beyond a reasonable doubt that his people told him what would happen if he said what he said. He did it anyway. Good for him, I guess. Right, wrong, or indifferent, people should stand up for their priciples.

I will say, if what is being said about Kraft being buddies with Bibi is true, then the "The Jews are the evil puppet masters pulling the strings of the world" thing many people seem to believe is true might not be all that wrong.

Who knows, but now we all need to wait and see where the Swifties are on all of this. I mean, this is definitely something to keep us occupied until the next game.

If Kraft knows Bibi that's not evidence of a secret Jewish cabal to rule or influence the world. That's rich people and powerful people working and ruining in overlapping network circles.

As for that being a calculated move... punk kid thought he made it opening on a stadium tour and was way out over his skis. What percentage of people know the opening acts?

Now imagine the blowback form the liberal limpwrists if Sheeran were to pause and quote a verse of Scripture, stated he is pro-life or that pedophilia is a perverted crime, on and on- they'd demand every radio station ban his music, and sadly, a large % of them would oblige.
