This looks like good news to me. Fraud needs to be shut down.
However, we have heard the same story several times, so I will wait for some time before busting out my dance moves. If nothing else, the meltdown from Indian YouTube channels will be entertaining.
Trump has been quiet about this issue in recent months but has been working behind the scenes to make things harder and avoiding Democrat backlash.

Labor Department Inspector General says investigators have already begun issuing dozens of subpoenas

Published July 8, 2026 7:29am EDT

Quote:

The Trump administration is escalating its crackdown on immigration-related fraud, launching its first major investigation into alleged H-1B and PERM visa abuse, labor trafficking, and the displacement of American workers, Labor Department Inspector General Anthony D'Esposito told FOX Business on Wednesday.

D'Esposito announced the probe exclusively on "Mornings with Maria," calling it the latest step in the administration's expanding anti-fraud campaign ahead of Vice President JD Vance's nationwide fraud initiative event in Milwaukee set for later in the day.

"This is another example where fraud is fueling violent crime," he said. "Much of the visa and the human trafficking that we see when it comes to this foreign labor is tied to cartels, is tied to transnational gangs, and this is the work that we should be doing, not only to make America safe again, but to make America more affordable again."

D'Esposito said investigators have already begun to issue dozens of subpoenas in relation to the fraud investigation.

Quote:

An H-1B visa is a non-immigrant work visa that allows companies in the U.S. to hire highly-skilled foreign workers in specialty occupations for an initial period of three years, which can be extended to six years.
"This is not just people working in factories or actual labor," D'Esposito said of the fraudsters. "These are people working in medical facilities and doctors' offices that are actually putting people in harm's way."

Quote:

By far the industry most heavily utilizing H-1B visas is the tech industry, which accounts for roughly 60% to 70% of all the new applications in recent years. Other top industries include consulting and professional services, engineering and manufacturing, healthcare and medical research and higher education.

Karoline just tweeted about it. So this is real and something is happening. Let's see what actually transpires.

Now let's start locking up CEOs who committed fraud.

This is one of those stories we probably won't hear another thing about after the next few news cycles. It has that feel of "look over here, we've found something big, huge, devastating, terrible and stinky like you've never seen before." Then you won't hear another thing about it for a year or maybe never again depending on who gets what to make it go away..

That is possible. It has happened in the past a few times. But why would Karoline post about it when there was no reason to? That leads me to believe that something more is going on than just some media stuff.

C-Suite has plausible deniability on stuff like this. Their role is putting high pressure on execs for financial results and productivity improvements. The decision to commit fraud is at least one or two levels below them.

Same situation happened at VW with the emissions fraud. You run the risk of your company committing fraud If you keep putting a gun to everyone's head every day.

I agree with you and that is what is happening with the constant drive for "growth" but ultimately someone has to be held accountable.

The administration named COGNIZANT among others. Cognizant did their payroll from College Station. My wife did some contracting with them for a period and her paycheck said College Stn which got me all excited to see.

Just fining companies does nothing. C-suite does not give an F. We need to see imprisonments but as you say, they would have some deniability there. Companies caught doing H1B fraud need to get ALL their H1Bs stripped current and future along with huge fines. If I commit tax fraud, I pay a big price. Why can't corporations? We need better deterrence.

All good for discussion. Let us see what actually happens on the ground. This issue was quiet for months, all of a sudden it is back on center stage.

ROFLOL. Poor H1B-fraudster CEOs.

Knock knock!

The fun only really begins when the CEO of Cognizant gets de-panted and paraded (assuming he's done H1B fraud).

Since it's always the CEOs and you've brought it up again here, I would say this is again a relevant question (so please don't try to get it removed instead of refusing to answer again)

What would you replace CEOs with as the top of the governance structure for this companies?

I don't need to prove the obvious. The Mods aren't going to tell me who requests to have this simple question removed (the question by me, of you). And they don't just disappear on their own.

And once again you are avoiding the simple question - what would you replace CEOs with?

If your answer is new CEOs, then what you're saying is that it's about who becomes CEO and on what basis they are picked. It would be pretty difficult to defend your knowledge of every CEO that exists today and the process of selecting them

If your answer is that it should be a government, then you are supporting the most failed form of resource governance in history.

If you tell me it should be some appointed or elected group of representative owners, you've literally just described the boards whose main job is hiring and firing the CEO.

If you tell me it should be some committee of unvested stakeholders, you've just proposed something even stupider than the government.

You avoid the question because you cannot answer it. You don't have a better answer than hired CEOs. You just loathe them for whatever your personal reasons are.

And the smart money is on envy.

Dems are busy right now trying to figure out why they're against this…there MUST be a reason.

The conundrum is they are supposed to be fighting for the American worker, so the Fed Judge might be a few days with his injunction.

Oh, and I did vote for this too.

But this time they are making a media blitz, so it would be embarrassing to step back. Elections are coming up.

I doubt many will be swayed by how aggressive they are, media blitz notwithstanding, over this issue. And they won't necessarily step back, they announce what they announce, and then on to the next topic. And put forth little real effort, just let it die on the vine. It got some attention, as will the next thing they proclaim. And the others after that. We don't seem to ever follow through on much of anything.

Now the lawyers are smelling blood.

The woman is Asha Sharma who is the CEO of XBOX at Microsoft. She just laid off 4000+ people. The allegation is she (or Microsoft) filed for 5000 H1Bs after firing so many here.

Everyone now wants a piece of the action.

The comments to that thread shows the anger of the American people against these corps. Only on here do people support this kind of loophole fraud under "free markets"

It will all be a waste of time. Even if we identity thousands of fraudulent visas and order the people deported a judge will step in and block it.

This guy keeps posting but today he says " Subpoenas issued. Warrants executed.". He better have at least one familiar corporate leader arrested by midterms. I am tired of all the "in the next episode..." tricks.

And he needs to cut the crap about what H1Bs and corps are doing. We all know that. Just get to the part where he did something (arrests). And I hope he stops bootlicking Trump, it is getting nauseating.
