Newly released information shows that the Biden administration was the only one willing to do what no one would before them - charge those deceitful and morally compromised nuns.

Unsurprisingly these same fools were the ones involved into the investigations surrounding Trump. Not to worry though, one of them is only running for one of Virginia's democratic congressional seats.

Our politicians, even the ones who claim to be faith-based, have such negligible levels of respect for the freedom of religion that they'd gladly prosecute those of us who exist only to attempt to bring more good into the world.
And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to Me’

The Biden administration was anti-Christian. It's all over the news this morning.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say while their beliefs clearly are negative towards religious orders, likely Christian ones, they were joking about prosecuting. That said, it's still ironic that American Catholics support the Democrat party by a significant margin over the GOP, considering the contempt leftists have for religion by and large.

Meanwhile, last year...

Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

I'm not that invested in my assertion so you can say I am wrong if you want. I know I have read somewhere that Biden beat Trump among American Catholic voters in 2020. And it's only anecdotal but yes my parish seems quite Democrat-leaning, especially with the older whites.

<shrugs>I thought it was quite established that American Catholics are an enormously conflicted group, often supporting left wing issues like abortion and immigration. If you think otherwise, that's fine.

Was Whoopi in danger? I remember when she used to hide out amongst the nuns. Now she is on the team to persecute them. Times change I guess.

Potentially her flashing the white power sign was part of the disguise?

My criticism would come from the angle of your 'significant margin' phrase. I suspect that Catholic voting habits most like follow the regional habits that they live in, i.e. high democrat areas will have high democrat Catholic voters. There are probably a few variations here and there, but considering the large numbers we are talking here, I doubt there is a pattern much different than normal population habits.

But there is a point to be made that it is amazing that any Catholic votes for democrats. They are pretty much in opposition to everything Catholicism is about, at least on the big issues. But if you consider the disturbing number of Catholics that don't believe in the Eucharist as the flesh of Christ, THE SUMMIT doctrine of Catholicism, it's no surprise that a lot of them fail to adhere to or understand the tenets in many other areas either.

I'll give you partial credit.

No credit for you sir…

The Real Presence wasn't and isn't uniquely Catholic. It was simply Christian doctrine, held universally and without dispute for the first 1,500 years of the Church. Every major Church Father and Church affirmed it without hesitation.

What you're calling "the summit belief of Catholicism" is really just Christianity before Protestantism invented an alternative. Zwingli's hateful dark age symbolic interpretation emerged in the 1520s a novelty that would have been completely alien to every Christian who lived before the Reformation.

Zwingli was not a Christian as far as I can tell. Certainly not one worth following. "Kill this guy that I used to support until politically it got bad!! Did these guys just baptize an adult and I just made up rules against it? Kill them!!"

It was literally insane that you live in such a whacky Protestant world that you done see that.

So the more honest framing isn't "Catholics uniquely believe this strange thing." It's that a recent made up Protestant tradition departed from Universal Christian Belief and then repackaged that Satanic departure as the obvious reading of Scripture.

The Catholics didn't add something. Protestants subtracted something and then forgot they did.

I never said it was uniquely Catholic. I said it was the summit which is a common phrase right out of Catholic teaching.

I agree that it is the "summit of Christian life" as the article states.

Eucharist during the Liturgy (I'm orthodox) is the single most important thing a Christian can partake in.

It is not however the "summit belief".

That's a completely different statement.

The summit beliefs to be Christian are listed in the Nicene Creed.

I'm also curious where you are getting this "many Catholics don't believe the Eucharist is the blood and body…."

I've never met a single Orthodox or Catholic person who believes that.

Not any worse at all actually.

That said I'm not Catholic and while they are our Brothers in Christ as Orthodox, I don't really even have a dog in the fight.

There are a lot of Catholics

There are very few Southern Baptist Convention folks

The scandal was larger because the Church is larger

You can look at the Catholic Church and it's a nice easy clean thing for simple people to wrap their mind around.

The Protestant scandals are so widespread and disoriented just like the religion that a simple minded person can't follow it the same way. No.

I don't know maybe you weren't being an a-hole but I think the non-a whole thing here to say is that there are good people in every organization, and there are bad people that pollute every organization.

It is not unique to be Catholic Church, Protestants, the Red Cross, the US Army, your family, my family. It's a universal human problem.
