Trump says it's a maintenance issue. Dems taking their ball and going home…

He's commented before that the facility is long overdue for major maintenance and refurbishment.

You're against funding national parks? Dang.
There is something awesome about each generation seeing the land as it's always been. Makes me sad people don't agree with that sentiment.

I am. Yes.
But it's way down my GAF list. At least it's Constitutional, unlike most spending.

Arts is very important.
Too bad government funding has allowed it to deeply infected with elements detrimental to our culture.

National parks receive about $3.5 billion in taxpayer money each year. They generate about $1 billion in fees plus another $1.2 billion in lodging concessions. The shortfall is more than made up in contributions to state and local economies and job/wage generation.
They are net positive culturally and financially. The constitution also grants the government with regulation of all public lands.

I've got no problem with privately funded arts criticizing whatever it wants.
I do have a problem with taxpayer money being funneled to the arts to crap on our culture and foundational principles.
That's a crucial difference and one that folks like you ignore.

I'm happy allowing artists to crap on whatever or whoever they want to crap on, even (or especially) while playing in a venue paid for in part or entirely by the public. If Kid Rock plays at a federally funded venue and craps on views held by liberals, and Brandi Carlile plays the next night and craps on views held by conservatives, I know our country is working like it should.

I hear you. We all support what we support.
It's one of the few government spending efforts I truly love.

Some of the most conservative Americans are huge in the arts. I know painters, sculptors, musicians, actors, etc. as conservative as there is that are famous and fabulous artists - lots of them the roughest toughest cowboys and ranchers as there are. How are the arts only the libs/dems?
