Hard to believe this was 5 years ago. I remember there being a huge thread on here (possibly the outdoor board as well). I honestly didn't realize the case hasn't been solved yet.

Agreed, there were dogs, drones, helicopters, ATV's, search and rescue resources both public and private.

To me I've always thought the theory that explained everything was he had some sort of head trauma from the crash, got cold (because it was cold) became hypothermic, due to said hypothermia did paradoxical undressing and wandered off into the bush and died of exposure. The issue with that theory is it seems like he should have been found pretty easy with the amount of dogs and resources that were used in the search, the flip side to that is if you put a 1 mile radius around his last known location thats 2000 acres and a 2 mile radius is 8000 acres, so even a thorough search can miss a lot of areas and that doesn't even account for some property owners declining permission to search.

Yeah it wasn't a 'derail', but a commemt essentially implying something was happening, but then no follow up when pressed to explain. With the news yesterday, it can be inferred the poster had some sort of inside knowledge this news would be coming.

Agree, would have to see a map on the car versus his remains. I would think a cadaver dog would get close or find him, but it was brought up that a number of landowners refused search access, makes it pretty hard for the dog to track. But they are amazing animals.

"Looks like over four miles from 2300 Salt Flat Road to 1400 Biggs Road. That is over 32,000 acres of search radius if it is him."

I was under the impression, though could be mistaken, that the remains were found near the intersection of Salt Flat and Biggs. If near the roadway, it is hard to believe he'd be overlooked. Google street view makes the area look wide open/unobstructed views. ETA- I get mixed street view results for that address.

Also they haven't said what they found, a bone, a skull, a full skeleton. With the amount of wild hog and coyotes, the location of something doesn't mean thats where it started.

My understanding is a full skeleton, although a few bones were missing.

Thankful that the family can finally have closure. I can't imagine the pain of not knowing has been for everyone who loved him. May his soul rest in Peace.
