Comedian, but he's spot on. Everyone is a communist, in their family. Socialist locally, but none of that works at scale. Not sure if this will embed here, so I'll post the URL link.

American communism doesn't want to redistribute wealth, it wants to redistribute status. Woke.

Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

So on the mark. "Always going to be an in-group preference"

"It doesn't scale...."

Problem is woke is "American Marxist---they want to redistribute status" which is "f madness"

He's hilarious.
And very smart. His interview with Joe Rogan is worth a listen. Deep thinker.

In semi related news, watched him live with my 19 year old. in the first 5 minutes he hit Christianity, Trumpers, guns and anti-vaxxers. Head hurt from laughing . Then he picked on my 19 year old, throughout his show show to a point where everybody knew my sons name.

That is what I have been saying for decades and ALL the economic and social history and analysis backs it up: it doesn't scale, because the vast majority of us care less and less about people we aren't directly related to or interact with every day as those people are more separated from us. At a point, we will never meet or know eachother and have only the most limited group identity commonality. We just don't care enough, even if we claim we do. We will sacrifice for family and friends and reciprocate egalitarianism with them, but for others? No, ee care and are willing to do less and less, and that is deeply biological. Like evolutionary. It won't change for millenia. Marx was absolutely wrong that manipulating socioeconomic conditions can rapidly change fundamental human behavior. No, we respond fairly predictably to the change and that is a reaction based on our existing biology, not some fundamental enlightening metamorphosis. We want ourselves and our own to thrive. We are empathetic to our own species but only insofar as that doesn't interfere with that first part.

Ben Shapiro has said this for years on his show.

I state it slightly differently.

My body is communist and pretty damn good at it.

My family mostly so, but we foster individualism and personal responsibility.

My church, socialist on the scale.

My county, I support collective activities that I wouldn't higher up the chain.

State level conservative.

Federal level libertarian.

UN level - full-blown anarchist.

It's not as Carr says about not caring about those farther away...its that as you increase the distance from yourself, the corruption, waste, and lack of intelligent oversight goes up exponentially.

Nah, he's pretty spot-on, there.

I concur with that sentiment...."**** those guys!".

Marx was wrong that somehow continued could bring about a fairytale utopia where everyone has abundance just because because no one is profiting from their labor. Communism doesn't work because there is no mechanism for marshalling resources to devote to solving problems or increasing productivity other than the state, but in a state where there is supposedly abundance, there should be no need and the state has no reason to about there is. Development stops because it is antithetical to the communist idea.

In reality, it is the utilization of pooled resources, brought about by some entrepreneurial individual, that enables increased efficiency in productivity and the creation of value. It is not enough to merely own the means of production. They must be organized, arranged, and directed to productive means, and the typical laborer is incapable of that. So if the state. Giving people the freedom to resources and to trade and borrow allows those best capable of creating solutions to apply themselves to problems. They may get rich, but everyone wins because increases in protectivity mean less goes into producing more, creating abundance.

Socialism only works if there isn't human nature involved.

Wouldn't the same be true of capitalism, that it doesn't really scale.

As he says at the beginning, "Capitalism isa terrible system besides all the others. Small markets can self regulate, but on a national or global scale, monopolies, fraud, and exploitation often prevent the same self regulation.

Here is what AI said when I asked that questions: "Just like communism assumes altruism, capitalism assumes rational actors and fair competitionbut at scale, power dynamics distort those assumptions."

We have never had pure capitalism, and that would be evil. We have labor law, antitrust, etc... We have regulated capitalism. The Dems want to regulate it down to socialism -- too much.

We need some regulation, like that damn Disney/ESPN not letting ESPN/ABC on youtubeTV so I have a hard time watching Aggie Football! (kidding but not totally)

Yes, it fails at many levels because it is contrary to many aspects of human behavior. Nice dream, doesn't work in reality. We live in reality.

True.

Socialism works great for ants and bees, for example. Both, both of these are communist economies built on ruthless, bloodthirsty monarchies.

We used to get a lot of truth from comedians. Not so much anymore as woke has destroyed comedy and satire.
