It also requires anything between 3k and 10k to have identity verification. Starts in 2027

This is in a effort to reduce "terrorism" and money laundering. Seems to me this probably wont help do either of those things but further suppress regular people

Government control marches on.

Mandated because of drugs but in reality it's probably so taxes can be collected. Dumb euros.

I know the UK is pretty much cashless now, is the EU not the same? Seems like it was the last time I was there.

More importantly it's a step for total conversion to digital currency. Digital currency gives the EU complete control over the population. They can then restrict what you eat, where you live, restrict your travel, etc. This has been the globalist goal for decades. If the Europeans weren't such sheep then a lot of politicians would find their heads in baskets.

Yep. I was thinking yesterday about geolocation. Our government can know where any of us are at any given time because we have cell phones (or even modern cars). It violates the spirit of the Constitution, but we've willingly allowed it.

Digital currency just ramps that control up even more.

Yep. This is why fighting against adoption of USCBDC and degradation of 2A should be the two most important issues over all else. If one of these things happens, it's all over.

They'll combine it with a social credit score so that if you are caught protesting the government they can debank you Canada style with the press of a button

Regular people don't make $10k+ cash transactions... they certainly don't make 10k+Euro transactions

We're talking cars, boats... things that are often bought with a loan. "B2B" and "other" bulk purchases.

I'm generally more Libertarian... and have always been against this, because I don't want the Gov tracing everything I buy.

However, when you consider the groups of immigrants, who don't get really trust their corrupt banks, they function mostly in cash, even for legal purchases. They don't keep their money in banks. They earn cash wages, and buy from cash merchants.

That leads the merchants to keep two sets of books in which they don't collect or report sales tax. They don't pay income tax on the cash portion.

Additionally, these cash waged people don't pay Income Tax, but more importantly... they often qualify and get welfare because they show limited income.

Report the wages, Tax revenue goes up. Report the sales and VAT and Income Tax goes up. Welfare goes down... now we're talking about paying the "fair share."

It doesn't apply to transactions between private individuals. That makes this even worse, given what their stated goals are.

Are personal checks considered cash? I literally just wrote a personal check for $10,008 to buy something.

I can't think of a single reason that justifies a social credit score and its not a negative, so I wonder what is the argument liberal minded and globalists use for one?

Your AgTag tells me you aren't a "regular person."

Or maybe you are a "regular person." What is your degree and profession? I thought all TexAgs posters were wealthy. *ahem*

I would not consider a check cash because it has to go through the ACH.

A check is actually considered a contract. It is a promise.

Interesting, while a few years ago, Germany was way more cash heavy then I expected. Sure it was smaller transactions but just a different culture.

Ha. I have bachelor's and master's degrees and am retired, so I guess I'm not regular.

However, I should be able to transact in cash if I damn well please.

On the check, I just wasn't sure what the EU actually considers cash.

Drug dealers and organized crime could care less about laws. Laws like this only further restrict the law abiding citizens.

So, if they had just kept these backwards, mostly muslim, foreigners out, they would not need to infringe on EVERYONE's basic rights like this?
