We've got an Indian-Muslim mayor of one of the most important cities in the World, who trounced an Italian Catholic family machine; and then had the gall to rub in the fact that he won because no one in NYC is actually American anymore.

How do you go from Rudy Giuliani to Zohran Mamdani in a generation? Easy; turn the USA into a North African International airport terminal.

When you let people who aren't American, or who don't care about America vote; you get a country that doesn't look like America.

If any of you have read Dostoevsky's "Demons" what we have here is the Stepan Trofimovich and Pyotr Stepanovich tale playing out in front of us.

Like Stepan; Cuomo represents the old liberals, who are now seen as conservatives. They want social liberalism, but; they want it to happen gradually. They want to get rid of the tired religious conservatism in the country; but they want it to die gracefully of old age.

Like Pyotr; Zohran/Aoc/Tlaib and co represent the new liberals. They want to burn everything down, piss on the ashes, and recreate America in their image. They don't want to let American conservatism die of old age, they're going to set it on fire.

Probably too late for enough of the country to wise up to the fact that immigration since 1970 has not been a good thing for this country. At all.

Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

We're not a democracy.

And the alternatives being proposed by those of you on the far right are no better than those proposed by the far left. The only difference is the supposed motivations.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

Here's why we are in the latter stages of America.

2001-2016--went from little to no national debt to a level that is unsustainable.

2020--Chinese and Leftists unleash Covid upon the world and increase the debt levels...also steal an election.

2021-2024--let every single person who crosses the border into the USA gain asylum, including the emptying of Central and South American prisons and asylums

2025--finally elect openly Communist Muslim to run the biggest city in the country that is the economic capital of the world.

If you look at the USSR, it survived about 70-80 years after it went "socialist". Then they began the collectivist policies and the purging of ANYONE that the government deemed an enemy or even a possible enemy. Hell, they killed allies to their side, just to show the real enemies what they will do to anyone. But their economy finally collapsed once the ingenuity and creativity that capitalism provided couldn't be emulated by communism. It turns out that people don't work hard if they don't have a carrot in front of them, except for breathing. And in a place like the old USSR, even life itself became a burden to many of its citizenry because of the brutal life forced upon them.

This is what this place will get to, most likely between 2050-2150. And I bet that it will be sometime after 2100 or so that our bankruptcy finally occurs. When it occurs, because it's inevitable, the reset will be very interesting to see. Will it be like a Russian reset, where the Russian Organized Crime and its government leaders just profit big time as the people find their way thru the famines and rations? Will it be another American Civil War, but probably with a populace that is not masculine enough to fight (think Western Europe)? ONe way or the other, most of us will be long gone by the time the **** hits the fan.

I'm certainly in the minority but I think it's hilarious that NYC elected this moron for Mayor.

Note - I'm not celebrating it in a diversity is our strength way
I'm laughing about it in a - look how stupid NYC is way.

We had problems when I lived in Los Angeles but even the Angelenos weren't this dumb.

This election really makes you question who is actually voting.

Should we re-institute some sort of test at the polls to be allowed to vote?

A Gold Star ID requirement would probably stop half of the NYC voters in their tracks.

This is interesting but I would flip your progression with the bold. The collectivism and purging began in the young USSR and early middle age one. They all but led with the bold, especially after the royal family was murdered and the Russian Civil War went on. It is the older USSR that vaguely started to mellow even as it was also collapsing. The "restructuring" was genuine, it just failed, or was outrun by events.

Now to your forecast --- I think lasting till 2150 is waaay too bold. We won't have reason to stay together in less than two generations unless there is a really strong reset from the top and a complete makeover of academia and media. Its still in suspense where 44 BC. or 440 AD is where we are at in the big power cycle, but with one major exception most indicators point to 440s AD -- Later Rome, as you also say "latter stages".

The big exception? The run away Progressive socialism drive now mixed with Islamist ---- this has our near future looking like almost totally non-taught in schools 1940s-50's China. Maos era.

So what hoping for is we have a breakup like the Roman Empire where a portion preserving its achievements survives as as super-Singapore business friendly to have the sheer prowess and grit to endure on its own for many more decades.

We're at a dangerous point. Lower and middle class people legitimately feel left behind in this economy. Everything is either very expensive or simply out of reach. My son has a good job for a young man in his mid-20's but can't fathom being able to afford to buy a house where he lives. There's a real sense that things won't improve barring some major changes. These times have always been where the commies stop being laughed at and start being considered, regardless of their multiple abject failures and atrocities.

The right has got to offer a better way forward or these people will default to the commies out of frustration and hopelessness.

The italics also goes for their rival, fascism. The danger is real. The conventional right leadership is almost impotent -- they like much of the Left are too well off to relate. That's why the votes go so much to the MAGA energetic ones.

One of the ways to lower prices is to stop the option of the bulk buyouts that hedge funds and even foreign powers do of land and property. But that is only part of it.

I post all of the time, but yes, all of the enclaves of Dallas,Houston, etc whose Costco's now look like a Singapore food court are exactly what happened in California starting in mid-90's when the Asian/Indian demographics went from 3-4% of the population to pushing 18%. That % shift corresponds almost exactly to the shift in Dem voters and what turned California from lean red (with strong red urban population areas of OC & San Diego) to the dark blue stain that it now is.

Yeah, I'm not laughing at Mamdani's win. I know a lot of others are of the "lol let it burn" mentality, but I am not. It's very short-sighted. This **** is a cancer and it's evil. It pisses me off that our largest city and the financial hub of the planet is now run by a Muslim communist.

ISIS and white liberal women are now on the same team both celebrating this win. That's a major loss in the trajectory of this country. All large cities will head this way; it's inevitable and I'm not sure what you really do about it unless conservatives all decide to actively move back into the cities. That obviously won't happen.

Our K economy is just going to make this worse, unfortunately.

Gonna have to kick the olds out of their homes too. Can't just squat on a 4 bedroom property in the inner suburbs and ask people to cap your tax rates and expect young people to be able to live anywhere.

I keep warning about this and get blowback and hate in return. Now watch the country burn.

It is sad that many on this board either hate America or are self-loathing.

I am shocked that so many are okay with foreigners flooding into our armed forces. What if a Muslim from Arabia became General? And he decides to start an "islamic sub-army" so that Muslim soldiers can pray in peace. Then he makes statements against Israel or whomever Muslim hate?

Now people are shocked abotu a Muslim mayor?>

There's no real fix either. I'm impatient with all the "jokes" that say to repeal suffrage. A huge chunk of the voter population flat out vote for bad policy because their value system is skewed. They think they are making the right decision and that you and I are not.

Not sure how we get everyone back onto the same version of beliefs and perceptions.

I say this as someone with Asian in-laws who came here in the late 1970's to finish their advanced degrees in Lubbock, and a wife and child as a result, who I would both die and kill for. You are not wrong. There are many exceptions, like these good people in my family, who pay their taxes, assimilated, and never asked for a single thing...in fact, they are Catholic and GIVE on top of paying taxes. They have always bent over backwards to be super respectful and appreciative of American culture and norms.

But unfortunately, far too many are not like them. You are right...our immigration policies, even with legal immigration, since the 1970's are largely what got us here.

I still maintain tho, that white liberal women 18-45, are by far the greatest threat to western civilization. If they weren't absolute psychotic idiots, hellbent on showcasing their fake hyper-empathy for virtue signaling for hollow soul satisfying purposes, we aren't even having this discussion. We acknowledge completely different versions of reality. That's when you are at the ultimate impasse and no debate or conversation is even feasible.

In order to avoid eventual violence on a massive scale, we need to seriously start pushing to peacefully break up the union. Large organizations have to restructure all the time. Why can't a rapidly decaying country comprised of two very large groups of people who despise each other?
