Any hope for Sears in this one? I like her life story she's accomplished quite a bit, and Spanberger seems so unlikable but she has been ahead in most of the polling that I've seen, although it has been tightening lately.

Sears Is all in on the culture wars. Spanberger is all in on the economy.

VA elections are weird and probably don't predict much, but if it's a preview of what the parties will run in going forward it's interesting.

Spanberger is going to win easily.

Probably but people there are not happy about her not denouncing Jay Jones. That debate flipped alot of people according to what I've heard.

Spanberger wins probably by 3 or 4 points.

The left's DEI push are great talking points and virtue signaling……until they actually have a chance to back up their words.

Elect an immigrant, black, female for gov? No way!

Seems the race has tightened considerably. Not sure how accurate Trafalgar polling is for state races but it is a data point.

Their poll from 10/1 it was 47-42, Spanberger over Earle-Sears

Trafalgar has a good track record. This is probably the most accurate poll out there.

Unlikable isn't a problem for D voters. It's affirmation of their outlook on life. They love misery.

But it's equal and equitable misery, so there is that.

Guess we'll find out which polling firm has it this year and who doesn't.

"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

I live in Northern VA. Sears will likely win 98% of the state and Spanberger will win the urban centers and take the race. About 1% of the land area determines the results. Northern VA is essentially a bedroom community for DC liberals.

one poll out today has it in margin of error

the problem is that Sears is not as good of a politician as Glenn Youngkin is.

Very raw. But in that weakness there is a quality of authenticity her opponent absolutely lacks.

Her response to the Jay Jones incident has been extremely strong, including trapping the Democrats in an attempted "whataboutism" related to a group of Young Republicans with some hateful texts/social media posts.

Skankberger is typical for what passes as a Democrat candidate these days. Answer no questions. Announce no policy. Don't tell the people what you and your party are actually going to do when elected.

Sears is by all accounts a great person and a horrible candidate. Just generally AWOL early on in the campaign. Her campaign is all culture war with zero economics or other policies. Actually kind of question how bad she actually wants it or if she just went with the flow.

In her defense, the culture war got Youngkin elected - but even then that was more McAuliffe sticking his foot in his mouth. She's also popping up in a lot of small and unusual places & events for a VA gubernatorial candidate, but I'm not sure it's enough.

What sucks is a 5% better turnout in red country would turn VA solidly red.

Unpopular opinion: we need to go back to land ownership as a requirement to vote. Or at least a net payer of taxes.

Very popular with me. I would have some caveats to this, but yes, we absolutely should.

If you are not paying any federal income tax nor do you own property, you should not get to vote in national elections.

Silence is violence.

There is another thread regarding the difference between Republicans and Democrats.

Republicans don't leave a political rally wanting to kill Democrats.

Too many Democrats walk out of a political rally wanting to kill their opposition.

Democrats in general support every single line uttered by Jay Jones, just as they continue to support the murder of Charlie Kirk and the assassination attempts against Justice Kavanaugh and President Trump.

Spanberger is certainly typical of the brand.

I guess to be somewhat fair to the ignorant, idiot Dem populace the MSM outside of a brief mention by one of them has never reported his comments. At least based on some information shared last week.

Granted, even if it was reported they wouldn't believe it just like they claim antifa is a myth.
Henriques

The race is tightening in a way you normally would not anticipate in a state where voters show more tendency to move away from the incumbent party in gubernatorial elections.

Earle-Sears doesn't come across as a phony.

Spanberger is nothing but a Biden-brained fraud.

Disavowing Jay Jones would have made this election comfortable for the Democrat. It was the obvious choice, one Spanberger didn't have the courage to make.

Democrats always let their thinly veiled institutional racism prevail in the end. It is who they are.
