If the fate of the world rested on the best of the best, would DEI be involved?

Hollywood got it right. Black, white, man, woman. Give me who can get the job done.

It's already DEI at NASA and not based on merit

Just remember the shuttle has about 3 million parts all supplied by the lowest bidder.

And somehow shuttle aerodynamics are effective in the vacuum of space. I only watch parts of it to see Liv Tyler and a shot of Hartlee Field.

That's why NASA is dependent on Space X

I actually liked this cheesy dumbass movie. It's fantastic Americana from one of our best decades.

Honestly one of the best casts ever assembled.

Reimagined, to fit contemporary sensibilities…

Agreed. In that regard its kind of like "ID4" to use the term then, Independence Day. Fun suspend disbelief good popcorn flick. Sci fi meets disaster movie and very slickly done and good cast. Just two years earlier (1996)

My family had dinner at Fuddruckers in Burbank next to Bill Fitchner and his family.

I was telling my wife, that's William Fitchner and she was like, Who?

I said - the Air Force a-hole in the movie Armageddon.

I'll add 2 things.

Wife and I love this movie, and watch it often. Realistic? Probably not. However, it is funny and entertaining. And, I think like a lot of folks here, we remember the 90's and early 2000's fondly.

Also cheesy or not, there is a patriotic and American excellence theme throughout the movie, that hasn't existed in Hollywood for well over a decade.

Great movie and still watch quite often. I heard that during filming Bruce told Michael Clarke Duncan that he had seen a script for a new movie and Michael should go read for it as it had a role that would be a perfect role for him. He reportedly shut down filming so Duncan could go and read for the part.

The part was Green Mile. Bruce was a good guy.
