Not a huge fan of the precedent that this creates. That being said I'd totally buy a few given the chance.

I bet it will be more popular than the $2. Can you imagine paying your liberal acquaintances in Trump dollar coins?

This goes back to one of my past posts. Liberals can simply not take this money - businesses don't have to take cash.

Moreover, no penalty for them not letting you to buy anything. Being republican is not a protected class.

That sentence above is terrible, too lazy to fix it.

ETA - just thought of an Ag that used to post on this forum.

I've never voted for a democrat. But that has to the most hilarious token of virtue signaling I've ever seen.

I think a TON of them will be sold.

How about this?

Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

I blame those scientists at CERN in 2008 who sent us to Bizarro world. This world is largely unrecognizable.
I will no longer discuss politics with you. I reject your premises and world view. I am finished trying to compromise with you.

I thought that the idea of a Trump coin was really dumb until I read this idea.

I will have a few in my glove compartment for just such occasions.
It takes a special kind of brainwashed useful idiot to politically defend government fraud, waste, and abuse.

Trump be trolling. No way any rational person could believe a sitting President would issue coins of himself. Way too banana republic. Ain't gonna happen!

When your primary business and asset is your NIL, it's not narcissism. It's being on brand 24/7.

Why would it even bother someone? Why stupid?

Almost certainly a top 5 POTUS so he is going to be on some money. He's going to have a monument on the wall. And he will be number 5 at Mt Rushmore.

Just roll with it. And if you love America, this is all something to celebrate.

HTH.

Look, I've voted for Trump 3 times. I like 80% of what he does. But there is line between branding, and narcism. Trump is a narcissist. So was Obama, and probably Nixon.

I prefer the Teddy Roosevelt mentally of "speak softly and carry a big stick."

Mint the coin after he is dead. But putting "Fight Fight Fight" on it is narcissism. Call it branding or whatever, I'm just calling a spade a spade.

Why not put Reagan or TR on a coin? Nope. He's going to put himself on it. Like a monarch.

(I know, I know, how dare I call out a fellow Republican. I should just drink the kool aid and get in line, right?)
flown-the-coop
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Can you provide the memo, email or tweet where he ordered this coin to be minted with these images as final?

As mentioned these are not final, there are some hurdles regarding it can be done, and if it becomes problematic then it grew lights the Trump org to mint their own at a substantially increased profit for Trump.

People will buy it just because so many got their knickers bunched up.

Narcissists do not have the close familial relationships Trump has. People need to understand that he is his own brand. Hell, I heard the other day and it's on point… Trump ceased being a real estate guy, business deal maker decades ago. He switched his business to be Trump.

When has a law stopped Trump?

He heeds the law far more than his predecessors. Even when we don't want him to, like with all these obstructing injunctions. He just pushes the boundaries, like his opponents routinely before unanswered.

So if there is a law against it specifically, this will probably turn out a troll.

Question all you want. I didn't say you were not Republican because you don't like it.

Just telling you quite clearly that judging Trump a narcissist belies mountains of evidence inconsistent with that notion.

Get the coin, buy the coin, don't get it, hate it, melt it into a John McCain commemorative air superiority medal.

But to act like Trump ordered a minting of the proposed coin to stroke his ego is silly, dumb.

Believe Gipper pointed to a couple problematic acts of Congress on this, though I am not sure what still applies, does not apply, is debatable, etc.

Trump is POTUS during an important milestone as a Country. A special coin that recognizes that fact should not be that crazy of an idea.

Oh, agree with the milestone. One can question the taste, but would definitely get it. In time it might be like that coin of Justinian that is so spectacular and captures an age.
