It might solve more problems than it caused. If they start it, you don't even have moral high ground issues. In longer range history the disappearance of the radical Left that would likely result might prove important.

Problem is they live in the same place. Yugoslavias cannot be controlled. The military would split up almost at once. Corporate America would be the one wanting a cease-fire as soon as possible so they can get back to profit making. So its the media and academia that would be most monolithic but also stand out the most.
