Satellite or something reentering earth's atmosphere- it will come out this week what that was or whose satellite that was - possibly an asteroid, I've seen a few good ones that leave nice trails upon entry. Used to watch the meteorite showers as kids

To slow to be an asteroid. Interplanetary objects move much much faster through/across the sky than deorbiting objects.

Man that was a crazy sequence. The whole fleet battle of starships at War of 1812 ranges. Classic case of just "suspend disbelief" and ride with it and enjoy it. It also helps that its a "galaxy far far away" and may have never bridged certain technical limits in the direction that `Star Trek' presumes.
