I think most pilots have their charts and flight plans on an iPad or iPad-like device these days. An important piece of flying, but they still need to look out the window every now and then.

I mean yeah, I suppose they could be using it to surf nudie pics, but I think tablets are pretty common in the cockpit these days.

It's okay to be looking at the iPad, or charts, or checklists, or whatever, but when ATC shouts call sign "Spiritwings 1300" the pilot of the plane with that call sign has a duty to respond and comply.
