200yds is not that long of a shot, but it still requires a long gun and a decent marksman to pull off. The fact he exfiltrated clean after making a very long precision shot without 100s of people being able to point him out screams pro..

I don't understand. CBS or NBC talked to several "witnesses" who saw the perp arrested and claim that he said, "I would do it again." Now, the word is they have no suspect. I am confused.

I had not seen video of him on the roof, but if he escaped and evaded after being videod, that's.. scary.

I don't know what happened. Im truly and utterly, with no but involved, disgusted at the actions taken today. I hope whomever did this ( and whomever likely payed or orchestrated the event) dies slowly and painfully for a cold blooded murder.

I think that was a misquote, most of what ive seen has said 200yds.

200yds is and isn't a difficult shot. Most of us with any firearms familiarity could hit a +/- 6 inch ring at 200yds off a bipod or bench with a rifle at a range or down a deer lease. What 99.9% of us who dont have .military training(or much more advanced field skills) could NOT do is sit on a building top, range it as a downhill shot, then hit a moving 6" target... all while trying to not be spotted, in the sun, etcetera.

There are cameras all over every campus in America for insurance reasons. No way they won't have a picture of the perp within a few hours.

It's very confusing.

The guy was on video, being hauled off saying 'Shoot me, shoot me'. Even if he's not the guy, why release him so quickly? Doesnt that seem a little hasty?

People said they saw the shooter, etc....but now no one knows anything?

It's all very weird.

Even a trained marksman doesnt hit a moving target everytime...

This smells strongly of someone with a great deal of training that only comes from about 3 vocations in this world...

The Marines take people off the street with zero firearms experience and within a couple days have them hitting a head and shoulders target 95% of the time at 200 yards, and in more difficult positions than prone or with a rest. 200 yards against someone sitting down is a shot most people on the street could make if you just handed them a rifle.

The marines are not doing thag without significant training aimed at doing just that. They also arent doing it in one shot then scooting the vast majority of the time. Having trouble seeing hownyoure comparing a qualified and experienced marine that has been through combat infantry training with someone off the street.

You may be implying theyre hitting targets in a RANGE like that in a couple of days.... the range is not combat, or even a live and dynamic shooting situation.

And with a straight line of sight, anyone with even minimal firearms experience could probably make the shot.

A college campus is going to have an incredible amount of cameras on it. And there are likely hundreds of cell phone videos of the event. I can't imagine it will be long before the shooter is spotted and his trail to leave campus is determined. Does not mean they will be able to identify or catch him immediately though.
