I'm surprised this hasn't found its way to the board yet.

Fact Sheet: President Donald J. Trump Exempts Agencies with National Security Missions from Federal Collective Bargaining Requirements

  • Hydropower Facilities in the Bureau of Reclamation
  • National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)
  • National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) and National Weather Service (NWS), each part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
  • Office of the Commissioner of Patents, Patent and Trademark Office (PTO)
  • U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM)
This will face a fascinating and lengthy battle in the courts. In the interest of national security, eliminating the CBAs for several agencies is an incredible endeavor. Could it actually happen??

My 20+ years of civil service have been under the boundaries set by the CBA. How drastically different could this agency be run without the CBA?!?! Crazy to think about.

My opinion is that nothing substantive will happen for a long time. Management will implement changes, the union will grieve, and the only thing that will happen is that a portion of the workforce will become disgruntled and possibly leave. In the eyes of this administration, that is a win.

My fear is that even if this survives the courts, the next time a Democrat is in charge, unions will be allowed and it will be even more chaotic...new CBAs, court battles, and wasted time negotiating meaningless deals.

Government employees should not be able to unionize. They are supposed to be civil servants and unions go completely against that.

I agree. Good Trump. It's the right move, but it has to be concrete...something only a super majority in Congress can change. If it isn't, then it's all just for show and another reversible EO the next time a dem is in control.

….and another District Judge gets a tap on the shoulder from the real DemocRat leaders behind the curtains…."now it's your turn, this is real reason you are here…" and puts a pre-written rough draft of a TRA on their desk. …"touch this up and do your duty for The Party..".

I've never dug into this in any detail. I seem to recall that one of the big problems with these government-worker unions is that they become a big circular money grab for the Democratic Party, etc. . . as government workers and the unions themselves overwhelmingly donate to the D party and other liberal causes to protect their own interests. Is this true?

It's not really a new story, but an addition to an old one.

Trump issued the initial order on this back in March. This adds additional groups

Since then, a panel in the 9th circuit has said Trumps plan can go forward.

Of course, a different court could stop it, but ultimately this is one Trump is going to win given his clear authority under the statute

All according to plan. Trump EO, liberals immediately run to attorneys. Goes thru entire legal challenge process. Ultimately SCOTUS sides with Trump and it's forever etched in stone. Liberals are digging their own graves as the next one up will be limited by what SCOTUS ruled.

This. They negotiate with politicians for higher wages paid for by the taxpayers in exchange for political contributions. The public sector unions structure is corrupt. Its why public sector pensions all over the country are insolvent.
