The baseline was totally inaccurate, and there hasn't been nearly long enough to get a true measure of the level of decline.

Very true...reminds me of the gang of illegals who would live in Florida yet drive like 15 hours to New York to commit all their crimes. When they were finally caught they asked them why didn't they just commit crimes in Florida and they said they didn't get punished in New York like they would in Florida.

Criminals are dumb but they're not THAT dumb.

Just imagine if DC had actually been tracking all crime that was actually reported and if people had actually been reporting all crimes esp non-violent (since they knew nothing would be done by police and probably just report for insurance purposes).

Honestly, except for the really delusional ones, which is quite a few, I think their anger at Trump and hatred of him really stems more from that even deep down they know he is fixing everything. And that things really were a mess under Biden.

But a lot of them are just really dumb.

The Democrats have waged a war against law enforcement since Obama in the name of racial equity and fairness. They intimidated and labeled any Republican that dared to call them out for their lunacy as a racist and hate monger.

Until Trump, everyone was afraid to call them out and just cowered and watched as police funding got cut, lawbreakers got bailed out, and many let free altogether and not even prosecuted. Anyone with a brain could predict the outcome.

As is normal for Democrats, it was terrible policy designed to create racial strife and destoy the social fabric of this country so citizens would feel both defeated and desperate for the government to step in and take more control away from the public.

A UK legislator once said that liberalism was not about lifting people up, it was about convincing people that shared misery was the best we could hope for. A way of life. It was a lie straight from the pit of hell. Thank God Trump is proving every day that it doesn't have to be this way. That we can and will do better.

They did it to education first. In the classroom with putting kids of all levels of capability in the same classrooms, then with taking away discipline and order in schools. They've done it by pushing Soros DAs, removing penalties for crimes, de-funding police, and falsifying or not reporting crime statistics. They've done it by eliminating our border.

Do you have stats to offer yet? Those are usually a monthly summary, at best. All I saw so far was a comparison of restaurant bookings year over year, which was deceptive at the very best because 'restaurant week' in town was held a week earlier last year.

Of course, Peter Baker is the chief White House correspondent for the very fake news NYT, and an MSNBC (MSNOW) commentator, so we wouldn't expect any honesty of his reporting/statistical analyses. But hey, at least he is aware Trump is trying to protect the tourist-heavy mall/attractions:

Typically from my personal experience, tourism improves when crime goes down.
