Title 9 on Rev Share will kill the model everyone thinks will work where football or Men's basketball gets 75% of Revenue share (depending on whether school is a football or basketball school)

Yeah, that won't survive a court challenge.

The Supreme Court already said student athletes have the right to make money off their name, image, and likeness.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

Yeah, but the EO says name, image, and likeness is fine, Pay for Play, what we have now, is not.

name, image, and likeness means you are promoting a product, in a commercial, etc.

Pay for play is just show up and get paid with no name, image, and likeness requirement.

It will always be "pay for play" under the guise of NIL.

Congress can pass legislation but doubt an EO will suffice.

this EO doesn't really do anything other than state a policy position (that is for the most part just agreeing with the House settlement and proposed congressional legislation), and tell the executive branch to come up with a plan.

the labor department will for sure implement a policy that the athletes are not employees.

I don't know what, if anything, they can do to prevent antitrust lawsuits. but will wait and see on that. this is key reason why legislation is needed.

on title IX, Trump administration has already said revenue paid as NIL does not have to be distributed equally to each sex.

Here's my example take on Name Image Likeness…
We should be OK with Pay for Play…

Forget the BS burger-joint endorsement…

Think of CFB in terms of a traditional TV show… Which it is, btw…

A&M vs. tu… on TV…. Watched by MILLIONS (if not tens of millions)…

Marcel Reed and Arch what's his name are the QBS…

Add in Laveon Moss (sp?), Will Lee, etc…
- They're the STARS of an ongoing, very popular "television special event".. Certainly better programming than the other garbage on TV…

Their teammates are the supporting actors…
Like any TV show, a lot of people watch it because of the STARS…

They do this show 12-13 times every "Nielsen Sweeps" period annually… The games are A BIG FREAKIN' DEAL…

Based on what traditional actors are paid, for those 12-13 TV Events ALONE, they should be paid in the millions… They create a TV "ratings juggernaut"…

Football and basketball - but mostly football - are the KINGS of network programming…

Again, forget the BS burger joint endorsements…

They're TV STARS… And I'm ok if they're paid as such…

President Donald Trump has signed a College Sports Executive Order that prohibits third-party, pay-for-play payments to collegiate athletes won't survive a lower district court challenge, much less the Supreme Court. Congress needs to pass legislation that would implement some guardrails in the NIL and transfer portal.

Football and basketball needs to go farm system after high school-- at Pro teams expense. That colleges are educating these folks is a sham-- again, a thing we look the other way to support our local team. Colleges have done the pro teams work for years.

Had no idea that colleges and their sports/athletes as well as third parties were under the control of the executive branch of government!

This seems like a distraction or a joke.

Agreed. I have mo interest in the current landscape.
I really don't. I no longer set my Saturday based on when the Aggies play. Now, I just look at the highlights if I happen to see them.

Exactly. The only true NIL deal out there in the past couple of years is Olivia Dunne's. Everything else is strictly pay for play including every single football player today.

Livvy Dunne making millions off her image is what this is intended for. Not a single donor offering $1,000,000 to a softball pitcher for a year.

Isn't Trump basically saying as much by thinking he can change it via EO?

I'm not getting where he has the power to do a GD thing, here. I even asked Tio Beto, and he just shrugged, then said he was running for chairman of NIL.

what exactly do you think this EO does?

There's really nothing here where Trump has the feds take over the ncaa.

The executive branch can't just not have a position on some of these things. Are the players employees? Does title IX require equal NIL payments to each of the 82 gender? Is the Sherman act violated?

More great work from a POTUS trying to lead, or virtue signal, via EO.

If it's a real issue, roll up the sleeves and do the work and get lasting legislation done.

Sure it can.

Is this an EP(osition) or an EO(rder)?

And only 82 genders?! Wow! Bigot much?!

Nobody forced the university presidents, regents, and boosters to professionalize the big 3ish college sports. The current situation is the result of decades of decisions by those folks.

The government still can't figure out campaign financing. They won' figure out NIL either. This is a nothingburger and is not enforceable.
