When did the Democrat party shift to the Democratic Party?

I've noticed for a decade or longer people now refer to the Democrat party as the Democratic party. They also have gone so far as to refer to individual Democrats as Democratic candidates and Democratics.

If you look at any print media going back 15 years and before plural for that party were Democrats and singular were democrat even by the Democrats themselves.

It would be similar to if Republicans started insisting on calling themselves the Republicanism party and the party of republicanisms

I believe that it was an intentional rebranding about the time of "REEE! Save democracy.."

It's a shame that folks on the conservative side have actually so easily acquiesced to this marketing ploy

I think people have progressively (see what I did there) gotten more stupid and they are basically doing it not understanding that it's not correct.

They are marketing themselves as an inaccurate adjective. They are becoming the Neomarxist Authoritarian party quite rapidly.

If they were being honest, they would call themselves the Marxist or Communist Party.

When was it ever the Democrat party?

It's always been the Democratic Party. The members are called Democrats.

Quote:

However, some Republican leaders have made a habit of referring to their opposition incorrectly and discourteously as the "Democrat Party." The reason isn't entirely clear; it may be meant to imply that the party isn't sufficiently "democratic" in the general sense, or may just be meant as a petty insult. In August 2006, Hendrik Hertzberg traced this Republican usage, which he termed a "slur" on his party, back to the 1940s. He says it was used by opponents to needle the powerful Pendergast organization in Kansas City, which backed Harry Truman. He also says it was used often by the late Sen. Joseph McCarthy.

No offense, brother, but I'm not gonna do a fat chip.org would imply it would like for me to do. However, it may be a matter of semantics with the Republicans improperly labeling the party Democrat.

However, I believe the left has gone overboard to sell themselves as supporters of democracy and the champions of democracy, and will continuously refer to themselves as democratic rather than democrat in affiliation.

Not so fast, Ed, I just have a healthy skepticism and don't believe everything as presented to me. If you'll notice, I did indicate that there may be a debate on semantics when it comes to the terminology.

Don't forget that all of the countless newspapers that have used the term Democratic Party since the inception of the party are now considered "fake news" and all the fancy history books that call the party the Democratic Party are most certainly written by academic elites that can't be trusted and all the historical documents in museums and what not have all been under control of woke government bureaucrats or bleeding heart non-profits supported by USAID so have likely been altered as part of this cover-up, so really all we can trust is what OP recalls seeing over the past 10 years (and maybe some dudes on twitter).

If they were being truthful, they would describe themselves as the mob-rule party. Technically speaking, a gang rape is a democratic consensus. The premise of their party is subjugating the rights of the individual to tlwhatever they define as the interests of the collective good.

Of course it was. The Democrats (the left) are infamous for hijacking and rebranding terminology. It's what they do; it's how they spread propaganda and brainwash citizens.

See 1984 which is their handbook.

Another blatant example: illegal aliens are now all migrants.
