This is stupid.

Quote:

UnitedHealth Group (UNH.N), opens new tab was sued on Wednesday for allegedly concealing how backlash from the killing of a top executive was damaging its business, causing its stock to nosedive after the insurer lowered its 2025 outlook.

In a proposed class action filed in Manhattan federal court, shareholders said the insurer defrauded them after the December 4 shooting of UnitedHealthcare Chief Executive Brian Thompson by shifting away from strategies that led to higher-than-average claims denials, without revealing the impact on profitability.

How could shareholders not understand that adjusting the rates of claim denials would affect profitability. Reminds me of the plotline in the movie The Rainmaker.

And the shareholders think suing the company is going to raise shareholder value? It will have the opposite impact and they know it…grandstanding by shareholders and money grab by lawyers

Kind of amazing how this suit provides explicit admissions that the shareholders knew United Healthcare was routinely defrauding their policy holders by aggressively denying claims.

Can't they "short" the stock and still make money by ****ing their own stock up?

Yep.

I have UHG through my main job, and they're ****ing terrible at approving obviously needed things for my 6yo son or even me. Son not gaining weight appropriately, unlike his father's genetics or his mother's? Doctor prescribes high calorie supplements, sending them a report stating exactly that. "Sorry, we have researched the issue and have deemed this unnecessary."

Go **** yourselves.

Without actually condoning the murder, I totally understand the thought process leading to the desire.

Similar experience with UHC, Doctors say I need a certain procedure to relieve pain, but UHC requires that two lesser procedures be done first before it will approve. Performed and didn't work. We have managed healthcare, only it is the insurance companies rather than government. I have had so many worthless tests and procedures done over the years.

Yep,

Coworker had same thing.

They could pay for a CGM, alone, but "NO. We will pay for a special CGM with an insulin pump implanted."

One is like $200, the other is WAY more....LOL
