Seriously - the offender here is Apple, but this is one of many recent "EU" rulings against American tech companies. Apple depends on software for an increasing percent of gross profit -- approaching 40% now.

Already tech companies give much better consumer protections to EU buyers (much better warranties, return rights...). Now European governments are also increasingly "taxing" US tech companies via fines. I'm hoping that Trump has this on his radar.

In my most insufficient defense, it was Apple's dating app that was fined. But you certainly deserve the star I hereby award, because it is/was a little sucky on my part, but I considered it a blank canvas.

Apple CEO and CFO text messages revealed premeditated conspiracy to subvert the court's ruling that Apple was exercising monopolistic power by preventing of-platform purchases. They make some excellent hardware and software but are very bad actors.

I think we can all agree that hot and or wealthy people abuse their dominant position in the dating market.

Apple got sued in EU court over forcing developers to conduct In-App purchases through apple. The plaintiff in the case happens to be a dating app company.

I believe Google was successfully sued by Epic games for the same thing here in the US.

The action that set me off was EU regulators recently telling Amazon that they could not discriminate in their algorithms based on price. In other words if the product was routinely selling at $10, then Amazon could not downrate the display of someone else selling at $1000 in an attempt to steer consumers to the best deal bexause they would be abusing their power.

Facebook, Meta, Apple, Uber have all had cases where fines were levied against them, but not against non-US companies in similar circumstances. the US National Security Council (President + VP + major Secretaries + others) have called this "economic extortion" against US and US companies.

To be honest, I saw the article, did not read it carefully, and was mostly trying to start a "fun" thread, but still make the point that the EU seemed to be screwing us. But, not the best example and I guess I was the only one who thought it was fun.

Why should an (R) administration look after the interests of adversarial partisan tech companies? Apple, Google, Facebook, etc: let em wallow in the bed of their making until they choose to make serious reforms that serve the interests of normal Americans.

Got all excited when I saw the title of the thread, I thought it was going to be sexual and I have many stories to tell. Few of them true, and many are not based on reality.
