Has no one told Trump that the war wasn't over yet in May?

It's in the title of this thread.

It's in the title of the thread but in Trump's post he calls it WW2 victory day. And he did as well when he announced it as a holiday.

The War over the Nais was over, and that was the most important enemy to destroy. The Japs were a sideshow that had no chance of winning, and were just months away from total surrender.

Anyone else find it interesting that Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the Mexican president, recently spouted that "We will never accept the presence of the US army in our territory."?

If France would have had this mindset, they would be speaking German right now...

WOW: Berlin is celebrating VE Day!

May 08, 2025: Events and historical sites in Berlin to commemorate the Day of Liberation from National Socialism and the end of the Second World War. The Day of Liberation is also called Liberation Day and is known as Victory in Europe Day, VE Day or Victory Day in other countries. VE Day is celebrated across European nations as public holidays and national observances.

The Germans have acknowledged their role in starting the costliest war in history (I think that title still applies). They have taken steps to ensure that it won't happen again, at least on paper and up until a new German tyrant rises to tear up whatever paper that is written upon. So it's not really surprising to see Berlin celebrating VE Day today, particularly in light of the fact that most of the people who were actually there are deceased; the majority of these celebrants are the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the men/women who fought that war, and all most of them have ever known is a law forbidding the public display of the swastika and a collective guilt over what their ancestors wrought upon this world.

Contrast that with Japan. I am unaware if they even acknowledge the existence of a VJ Day, let alone celebrate it. I do know that they have minimalized their role in starting WWII, and do not teach their own students about the atrocities that they committed against everyone they came into contact with from 1933 to 1945.

His post did I not claim that VE Day represented the end of the war.
