Oil field needs the higher standard American Steel and manufacturing codes.

Needs to be minimal 15%.

In my industry, consumer electronics, the price increases are being announced because the retailers require 90 days notice and the brands have no idea how this will all shake out, so they are sending notices. Quietly they are hoping that they don't have to go through with it. I wouldn't be surprised to hear a lot about price increases coming and many that never get to market.

PVC?
no. Mostly brass, cast iron, ductile iron. No domestic foundries for some of the smaller frames, etc.

China is the source for almost every valve manufacturer (or at least lot of components) in the market for Oil & Gas valves. You all would be shocked.

Some of the brand names are publishing 70% & 80% increases dues to the 140% tariff. It's not gouging either, I know of a guy who has a $100M tariff bill due in the next 30 days if Trump/China don't get this figured out so his increases are all about capital raising for that bill.

10% is nothing too; we started dealing with increases 3 months ago via 232.

Trump's original 232 or 301 expansion didn't already hit these?

Have a customer that said there are 50 machines in the US that can fabricate their raw material. They need at least 600 of those machines to meet their requirements alone. So "Buy American" makes a great bumper sticker, but it is not always practical short term.

For bronze and iron valves, we got letters from suppliers on Friday and we expect more. It's amazing how many end users do not realize that "made in the USA" does not mean all the parts are sourced here.

Thankfully the products we buy are closer to the lower range but some product mixes are going up 60%

yep, and amazing that some projects require domestic material but some companies will pass theirs off as domestic because it has "made in the USA" on it

What's even more frustrating as many do not even understand their own AMLs. We'll have to explain this multiple times and they act like a deer in headlights

So?? Going to be a lot of suppliers increasing prices and ALL will blame tariffs…..even if 70% of the cost is transportation, middleman handling and profit. Some of this is catching up to the +30% inflation over the past few years

some will certainly take advantage of it. The only thing that has to catch up to the 30% inflation is wages. Most of these goods have already increased over the years, that's why we've been feeling it in our wallets.

Exactly why tariffs are needed and basic manufacturing has to return to the USA

It doesn't happen quickly, at all.

Especially if the next President runs the possibility of flipping the tariffs back. No sane company is going risk that. They'll ride out and wait.

You're right. The current shift to Asia began in the late 70s

But I'm sure we can correct it all in less than one presidential term and expect it to be maintained by whoever is in office next.

As soon as announcements were made regarding import tariffs on steel in mid February, we started receiving price increase letters from domestic steel mills. For no other reason than they could, cause their competitor's material just got more expensive.

The pipe guys are the absolute worst. They are a cartel. They simply maintain the delta between import and domestic so they can constantly complain about not being able to compete.

Yeah the pipe and flange domestic market is adjusting up because they can.
