Crazy Liberal NM Governor pushing a bill that will prohibit the import, sale and possession of such guns, as well as "large-capacity ammunition-feeding devices," in the Land of Enchantment and require certification of semi-auto weapons and "providing penalties."

You'll have a lot of people avoiding New Mexico if that was to pass and before SCOTUS overturning it.

Do love to see this level of liberal insanity. This is the way that blue states can become red again!

If they would just require the guns be tied to the bedpost the weapons couldn't just run out and kill someone like they're doing now.

OR, they could outlaw murder which would solve everything. Dummies.

ETA: seriously have the Democrats ever actually solved one problem? Resident useful idiots feel free to chime in.

Yeah direct impingement but small magazines seem silly. More ways for democrats to waste money in court and lose.

Haven't read the bill but will later, it looks to ban standard magazines as well.

Skimmed it and it wants to ban over 10 rounds per magazine

New Mexico is a lost cause thanks to Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Los Alamos, and the Indian reservations.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

Won't hold up under the SC.

No. But they sure create a mess of them.

I'd offer counter-legislation that all protected 1st amendment communication must be transferred only on printed, paper copies.
Nobody cares. Work Harder

Doesn't "expanding gas" propel all bullets?

I would like to say they are referring to firearms that use a portion of the expanding gas to cycle the action, but most of the people writing gun legislation don't know dick about firearms or how they work, so who knows?

Kalifornia, Oregon, and Washington get all the attention, but New Mexico is one of the most tyrannical leftists states in the union.

It's too bad because I actually like Albuquerque. It may be blue, but it isn't the snobby blue like Santa Fe.
The best way to keep evil men from wielding great power is to not create great power in the first place.

They'll have to ban Taco Bell, because that definitely expands my gas

Shouldn't, but you never know.

DC. v. Heller is applicable -- attempt by DC to ban handguns in the city. SC said that individuals (not just militia) have right to possess firearms for self-defense. Made particular note that handguns are the popular / preferred weapons for self-defense.

That will be an argument in NM for sure -- in 2025, semi-automatic weapons with high capacity mags are the preferred method of self-defense. Why need for big mags? My answer: Because mobs, gangs, meth heads, rioters, looters, etc. usually don't work alone and sometimes need to be shot more than once.

Most semi auto shotguns are gas operated and can hold up to 5 rounds - didn't see a specific callout that excluded these from proposed ban. I guess inertia driven shotguns will make the cut?

And even if not mentioned this will be next step after ARs if this makes it past SC somehow

It does not appear dems have learned a thing from this past election. They're doubling down on most issues.

The Native Americans may not be hard core democrats.
I blame the transplants.
