This seems like it should be a bigger story.

The company is really in little ol' Briggs, Texas. Halfway between Seward Junction and Lampasas on 183.

This is part of Nasa's CLPS program where they're paying private companies to send payloads to the moon.

Intuitive Machines in Houston also has a lander on the way to the moon right now. It landed one last year and will be attempting the southern-most landing ever on the moon looking for water.
No, I don't care what CNN or MSNBC said this time

Firefly has come a long way. Took this shot of their first launch in 2021 from my house that had to be blown up. They were able to fix everything and were successful on either this second or third launch if I recall correctly. They also were awarded and executed victus nox successfully. Pretty impressive for how young a company they are.

I mean, didn't we do this one in 1969?

Sorry I'm not excited.

OP...

That's cool as *****

In 69, it had taken a metric F ton of personnel, rooms of computers, and the world's best engineers and astronauts to achieve one of mankind's greatest achievements.

Now, when we hold more computing power than all of the USgovt had , in the palm of our hand so we can post snarky bull**** on "social" media, we've got private citizens, employed by private enterprises, achieving greatness.

Awesome news.

I watched the landing coverage last night. Being a on a shoestring budget, they didn't have live video. It would have required a bigger antenna, transmitter, etc,

There were some bad trolls expecting video like a SpaceX launch. Where's the video? Apollo had landing video in the 60s (it didn't, only after landing and getting set up). The couldn't afford $10 for a GoPro? Enjoying the PS1 simulation graphics.

everybody knows we never really landed on the moon in the 60s.
it was filmed in Elon's basement.

Considering how far we've regressed on this front I think this is a pretty big deal.
