Anyone here familiar with that area? We had some young friends that bought a house a year ago and we advised against it because Trump would clean house and the market would be saturated with sellers.

Just curious if there are signs of that by anyone who lives there and is familiar with the area?

Based on what I've seen it's bad.

There were supposedly 4000 homes for sale this time last year. Now 8000 and rising.

I also think a lot of the homes are unaffordable and unattainable from a livibility standpoint for "normal" Americans. When those more expensive homes come crashing down on their price, you can guess what happens to the rest of the market.

Normal neighborhoods become ghettos overnight. That and since it's DC the city will have to bail out some of the neighborhoods in some form of assisted living situation which will just make it worse.

DC is about to become even more of a **** hole.

Keep in mind: it hasn't even been 1 month.

I think most of the homes are unaffordable when you aren't stealing/grifting/bilking Megacash from the American Taxpayer.

The scam was reliable for several decades when you bought, but there's a new sheriff in town who isnt putting up with this bull*****

I think there is a rush to be early to the market because as prices continue to plummet there are going to be a ton of homeowners that will be upside down on their mortgages.

Sorry for the folks that are going through it but they should have known it was coming. It's a long overdue adjustment to the cesspool that has to be done for the long term good of the country.

Every time a thread is started in this realm of a topic i like to post this thought....

It is past time that our Nation's capital change locations. We need an updated "Whitehouse" far away from all other bureaus and agencies. 1. For an updated America 2. To hammer the enemy of this nation via their real estate value.

How awesome would it be to have term limits on a capital city.

That's why Rome was moved to Constantinople. The city became too corrupt to function.

No such rush in Bethesda, MD - the suburb that surrounds NIH. At least not yet.

I have a relative in the underwriting biz there and he says commercial properties are tanking while the housing market is a bit flat right now.

I want to see the agencies dispersed - and DC given back to Maryland. Northern VA and Southern MD will revert to something approaching normal for suburbs of a large city.

It's no accident that at the moment, 9 or the 10 richest counties in the US surround DC. Time to change that.

And do you know why they are the richest? Pretty sad for 98% of our citizens

I hope it craps out and all the houses lose money, all those people grifting off the US tax dollar need to lose house value .. I hope a $1.5 million house falls to $200,000.. give the grifters some real grift to chew on

I live in northern Virginia. Not seeing any activity at all in my neighborhood. Not a single for sale sign. Still too early to k ow what the impact will be. Honestly there were a ton of remote Federal workers who are being forced back to DC so I'm not sure it's going to be a huge impact.

A lot of federal workers left the area during and after covid. And we did not see any price drop. Prices are stupid high here like they are in every metro area in the country.

Heading out to walk the dog. Will see if there are any for sale signs but haven't seen a single one on the last few weeks.

Even if you see big job losses, people aren't selling or moving until they know where their next job would be
