I was stationed there from 2002-2006 and glad to see the name go back. Benning needs to be changed back as well,

This is going to cause all sorts of knots in the stomachs of libs.

The name Fort Bragg is coming back, but with a twist. It will not be named after the former Confederate general. Instead, the new name pays tribute to Pfc. Roland L. Bragg, a World War II hero who earned the Silver Star and Purple Heart for his exceptional courage during the Battle of the Bulge.

Works for me.

I served in the 2AD at Fort Hood. My DD 214 says Fort Hood. Fort Hood to me will always be Fort Hood.

Harry Hood was born in 1891. He was killed in 1917 while serving aboard USS Jacob Jones.

He died along with 59 other servicemen.

Just sayin'

Wrong branch of the military, though.
It takes a special kind of brainwashed useful idiot to politically defend government fraud, waste, and abuse.

I too prefer the big balls play, but the left is relentless. At least this way there's some cover against a future where 100 institutional names flip flop every time the executive does.

Poor SOB is about to get retroactively cancelled for something. NY Times about to dig up a story about how his dad was a plumber that once fixed a leak on a whites only drinking fountain.

Weak. Have confidence and don't give an inch. In fact, let's make some new Confederate bases just to piss off the other side.

there were 15 KIA in Vietnam with the last name of Hood

2 were from Texas and served with the 1st Cav

another was a West Point LT who may have been a descendent of General Hood

Never really understood naming a fort after a general who lost almost every battle. Hood is in a similar category. He and Bragg were just not very good.

I do get why so many who served on the military were frustrated with the name changes though. No one there says Fort Bragg and thinks about the Confederate general. The name means something different.

After mulling it over I think this seems like a pretty good compromise.

I believe 3-star aggie general A.D. Bruce founded and named the location Camp Hood

if he thought it was a good name...that's good enough

The finances of constantly changing names is adding up.

Labor, military maps, highway signs, installation signs, etc

Thanks Biden….

There is a law now about naming bases for Confederate soldiers.

This bypasses that law so there's nothing Congress can do.

Same here. 2/67 Armor, 2nd AD.

Let's rename it Fort Hood after Newman Hood, my high school band director.

So now we have to send a PFC Hood out on a one-man patrol? Is that how this works?

And we will rename it back.

This game is going to continue until the left is finally defeated.

Here in Alabama.... the state is fighting to force Mobile and Birmingham to put back up civil war era monuments that they removed in defiance to Alabama law that protects state, county, or local monuments from being torn down after a certain amount of time.

Braxton Bragg seems to have been an awful general and awful person. Why not name it for someone who didn't suck at everything rather than someone inept?
