Not to put too fine a point on this but this very idea of a prosecutor arguing that a defendant branded as literally Hitler, who broke every law excepting maybe the Endangered Species Act is ludicrous.

Further a defendant who somehow stole the 2016 Presidential election, deserves zero actual punishment other than natural consequences from being classified as a convicted felon.

And Trump beat them like a drum. His justice department needs to go after every one of these attorneys and judges. They shouldn't be anywhere near a courtroom.

The beautiful thing is though they overplayed their hand. With each case against Trump he just got stronger and his support grew. People that were even done voting for Trump came back in the fold because of the way he was treated.

Oh he's going to appeal, definitely. NY state appellate courts will uphold and this case will be before SCOTUS in two years time.

Roberts and ACB were shortsighted in their approach, in my view.

You don't want to know what I really think about the NY judiciary system but for purposes here, I will be surprised if they do a proper review and throw out the conviction. They will more likely punt by affirming and passing it up the flagpole.

There did use to be an equitable concept of manifest injustice in which courts could grant extraordinary remedies outside of the normal appellate procedure. Understandably, that much power has fallen out of favor and fewer arguments are made on that basis as other extraordinary writs are available.

Have no faith in any judge in NY state actually doing their jobs.
