I've been hearing about this for a while from both Rogan and other voices that are strong on veteran needs. The Rogan podcast today had Perry and a guy named Bryan Hubbard that talked about the upcoming vote for the Texas Legislature to legalize in Texas the therapeutic use of Ibogaine, which would then have to be OK'd by the feds.
Ibogaine is a physchoactive drug that has been shown anecdotally and by a Stanford study to alleviate or completely remove symptoms of PTSD within veterans. It is currently a schedule 1 drug per the US federal scheduling. Through studies in other countries where medical use is legal, it's also been shown to help Parkinsons, MS, and other brain driven illnesses.
Ibogaine does have a "trip" effect when administered at high doses. However, it also is not a drug people that don't have the before mentioned illnesses would ever do recreationally. There are a ton of hell-like effects when under the influence of the drug, however under medical personnel veterans have shown to have huge benefits from their PTSD as well as addictions to opioids/alcohol subsiding.
Please watch the podcast if you get a chance. This is something at minimum the feds need to lower scheduling of for medical research.
