According to Trump

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-says-mike-johnson-easily-remain-speaker-he-acts-decisively-tough-spending-bill

Quote:

"If the speaker acts decisively, and tough, and gets rid of all of the traps being set by the Democrats, which will economically and, in other ways, destroy our country, he will easily remain speaker," Trump told Fox News Digital.

Trump is loyal, and Johnson is loyal in return and will do Trump's bidding. Wouldn't be surprised if this whole thing was orchestrated by Trump to get rid of the debt ceiling.

Well this is a far cry from your assertion in the other post that this spending bill was blessed by Trump.

We'll see I guess. In the court of public opinion, The GOP looks disorganized. That's on Johnson.

Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

He can only lose one vote before losing the speakership. That's an incredible thin line to walk.

Is that true? I think I saw somewhere that Thomas Massie has said he will not be voting for Johnson for speaker.

When you're getting ridden out of town on a rail, get in front of the train and call it a parade.

He loves to move the goalpost.

Jeffries says they won't bail him like they did last year. He's only speaker now because of the Dems.

If Trump is the shot caller, why did he have Johnson draft the 1500 page CR and then shoot it down? You've dodged all my other direct questions so I'll assume you'll dodge this one as well.

Doesn't even look like Trump's style of deal-making "give a bit they want, to get what you want" --- not giving so much power that it looks like they won the election. Not really buying it that Trump authored that CR in any way.
