And yet……….he's wildly popular in his district. It's really an interesting study in how people vote. What makes a candidate so appealing.

If you remember, in his first run for Congress, he ran in the primary against a conservative, smart, and well qualified state representative who would have been a solid choice.

But Dan was the eye patched former Navy guy whose parents lived in my subdivision. No real qualifications for office. Dan won pretty easily. So right there……appearances are apparently greater than qualifications.

To this day, ask most ( again……..most) constituents about his voting record, or some of the things he's done or said, and they are oblivious. They still love the dude!!

Didn't Dan make millions off his book deal? If so why is he whining about a pay increase and cost of living adjustment? Sounds like a tool in the video.

Not surprised as Joe Barton was the congressman representing Aggieland while I was there.

He's an unusual bird, managing to be more hated by patriotic conservatives than most Democrats even. A complete disgrace to the GOP, the navy, and Texas.

If I had the last name 'Crenshaw' I would get a legal name change just to make sure no one affiliated me with him.

I wouldn't say he is wildly popular. He won his primary this year 60/40 but the challenger was not well known and spent a tiny fraction on the election than Dan. The difference was less than 13,000 votes. I'd say he is vulnerable to a primary challenge.

Because better people don't run, or if they do, they entire system works against them, unless, the incumbent has done something to piss off the money people.

It's understandable why good people don't run. The time it takes to run and the public scrutiny a good person would go through is a major turn off.
