I was talking to some first generation citizens about this, and it was interesting to me.

For some reason, the price of eggs is a bellwether for Latino people, and some significant indicator on how the struggle of the working man against the government is going.

I tried Googling this, but it either doesn't show up much in English, or, more likely, Google is suppressing the story.

Your average Latino is very sensitive to the price of eggs, more so than other staples. It is like a line in the sand that was historically drawn in their home countries between the people and the government. If you can keep the price of eggs down, at least working class people will have access to good protein. The expectation is that the government does whatever it can to keep egg prices reasonable.

Believe it or not, I think that this was a significant contributor (not the only contributor, or even most important, but significant) of Latino male support for this cycle. It is important enough that I think, if the U.S. is going to have farm subsidies at all, this needs to be added to the mix.

Milk and eggs are absolutely the things I notice first and foremost when it comes to price changes and what my brown ass *****es about the most. Might be something to this after all... Guess it's in my blood after all.

this sounds like someone trying too hard to come up with a clever anecdote to explain a massive shift by hispanics. If this were true, why didn't this vote happen in previous times when the economy was bad?

if egg prices were down, hispanics would still have voted in enormous numbers for Trump because they reject the woke garbage, hate that the economy is in the trash can and that illegal immigrants are storming the border.

the "price of eggs" isn't the issue. change "eggs" to "milk" or "butter" or "meat" and nothing changes in the OP. its the price of everything combined with far left radicalism that pushed them right

hispanics like Trump because he has juevos.

I never pay attention to grocery prices because I make too much money.

Honestly the one that gets me is the price of fajitas. Used to get them on sale for $6/lb and that sale price seemed like it was the price since the beginning of time. Now its $10/lb on sale.

Eggs is one thing that every house could supply themselves. Chickens are small, easy to care for, and provide food almost daily. It is the very basic self sufficiency tool. But if you live in a city, there is a pretty good chance you can't have chickens, so it is symbolic of the price of government not allowing you to be self sufficient.

The Democrats pushing the abortion as its prime issue since it worked in the 2022 midterms in the aftermath of Dobbs did not help with Hispanics IMO since their cultures are basically conservative. I also believe that Hispanics believed they were being taken for granted by the left and their issues were not being addressed in favor of the more fringe and radical parts of the Democratic Party.

Nah it's more a symbol of how people are *******s and don't care about their neighbors and government has to regulate to keep the peace. People buy chickens but end up with a rooster and think it's fine to keep in a neighborhood, or they think it's fine to free range their chickens on their neighbors property.

I have a latin wife. We always have eggs in the house. I didn't hear a single thing about that re: the election from her or any of her friends/family. What I do know is they many of them came here lawfully and they also have very real experience with what happens when government ruins their country.

They're moving more towards republicans because they watch Biden/Kamala and the dems and cannot comprehend what or why they lead the country the way they do. Their lens is much less political, and much more practical/common sense. They fundamentally cannot understand why we would ever allow our border to be wide open.

They're ashamed when their countries empty the jails and force the criminals to leave and go here because it gives them and their countries a bad name. They just want to work and raise families in safe environments. That's why many of them left their home countries in the first place.

That simple.

Despite the media trying to push the "egg drama" the answer remains the same:

If egg prices don't fall, Trump isn't going to lose support

Scarily, there are a lot of people who don't know or want to know where their food comes from.

They just want it on the shelves and cheap. The same ones who hoard toilet paper in a plandemic.
