In 2020, Biden won Illinois by 17% margin. In 2024, Harris won Illinois by 4%.
Illinois is actually a red state by area, if you take away Cook County, the state will go Republican.

For 2028, I am sure Illinois will be considered a swing state moving from Dem to Rep.

Funny the Democrats thought Texas was going purple. Illinois is closer to going red.

Good times.

Throw NJ in there as well.

2020 was a 16 pt win for Biden. Last night was a 4 pt win by Harris.

It's a poor plan to give the illegals all the benefits and just totally ignore the native population

If Trump had swung a further 5% of the voters in NY to team red that would have flipped as well.

Virginia and New Hampshire. If nothing else, liberals will have to spend more resources there.

The Democrats will likely triple down on their fringe-left platform. And I think it will put a few more states in play for the Republicans moving forward.

Conservatives cannot just concede the urban areas. They need to go into these places and make their argument. Play the long game.

When are they taking away Cook County?

New York was closer too. Be very interesting to see what 4 years could do there

I think Pennsylvania will quite a bit more difficult if they plan on running Shapiro, so we'll need a few new swing states.

This, dems underperformed in these areas which made many of these states closer overall. I would like to believe there is a voter base in these blue areas that has to show up on election day. They have been largely ignored and thus unmotivated to vote.

Harris won Illinois by about 8% not 4%. Still a 9 point drop from Biden.

New Jersey was 4%
Minnesota was 4%

Virginia was 52% Harris and 47% Trump. Drain the swamp just a tad and Virginia is red.

And Virginia.

All three of these are in play for a strong Republican candidate.

Still closer to Red than Texas was to blue.

Great in theory but hard to beat the Chicago political machine.

I'm more inclined to believe it had to do with the piss poor candidate......and some ballot harvesting in 2020.

We'll see in 2028, but I'm doubtful those states are as close as this year.

Does Illinois require voters to show their ID?

Would have been tighter if Kennedy wasn't on the ballot as well. Crazy.

This is a great point. If they start downsizing the govt and/or move agencies out of DC, that would remove a ton of blue votes from NOVA that keep Virginia blue.

I don't want to rain on the victory parade, but let's keep in mind:

-kamala was a TERRIBLE candidate that even her own party didn't want.
-Trump and his supporters have been out for blood for 4 years.

Objectively, it's sad that the race was even this close. The dem machine is real, and dangerous. You better believe that TODAY they are already working on 2028.

Do what DeSantis suggested and spread out the bureaus. Take that huge Dem voter block and spread them out over 15 solid red states

The more Democrats play with the Green New Deal, the more difficult it will be to hold on to a heavily agricultural state like Illinois.

A reckoning is coming. Illinois Democrats would be wise to distance themselves from the Climate Change Con Artists running their party nationally.

I wouldn't hold your breath….Chicago dominates all politics in the state. It's insane.

THIS IS WHY YOU DO NOT ABANDON THE CITIES AND JUST HAND THEM WITHOUT A FIGHT TO THE DEMOCRATS. IT ALSO IS WHY I AM TYPING IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE I AM EUPHORIC.
