Direct TV dropped Disney/ESPN just in time for college football during negotiations. ABC tried to give it out for free to all direct tv users for the debate tonight and got shot down.

Folks at Direct TV seem to be intent on killing their business . Got this today. At a minimum the timing is horrible.

I stopped being a DirecTV customer the instant they were acquired by AT&T.

Disney is holding DirecTV hostage. Disney is insisting that DirecTV carry channels that only a few people watch in order to carry ESPN. Additionally want immunity from lawsuits for for everything including the pending Venu sports channel.

I heard the talks aren't going well.

The debate is on like 10 channels.

You don't need ABC.

I'm kind of leaning toward DIRECTV so far in this. They're actually giving their own customers money so they can sign up for a month of a competing service so they can still watch all of the sports and ABC. Pretty risky knowing those customers may like the competitor and not come back.

Having said that, the price increase that 2wealfth Man mentioned is ridiculously timed. I got that email today too.

I hate both of these bloated media entities and watched a stream online. And I hope they keep feuding and it costs them a lot of money.
