Devil's advocate...if you "make it constitutional" like he says....then how is it "anti-free-speech" anymore than laws against screaming fire in a crowded theater or office building? Or threats to blow up a school or government building? Point being, we have NEVER had ABSOLUTE rights to free speech.

Honestly, I am surprised local laws tend to permit burning the American flag out in public. I guarantee if I just started burning stuff on the sidewalk in downtown Houston I would get arrested within minutes.

But if I was dressed like a freak, and surrounded by other violent unhinged godless freaks, pretty sure I'd be able to do damn near whatever I wanted.

Government needs to keep it's dirty hands off my property. If I want to burn my flag or do anything else with my own property it's none of the government's business. Trump needs to focus on real issues.

Arrest them for violating a ban on open flame or creating a dangerous hazard maybe. There have been several instances of flag-burning gone bad with idiots catching themselves or others on fire.

All the Supreme Court said was abortion is a state issue.

The Supreme Court already ruled that burning a flag is free speech in Texas v. Johnson.

I get it's dumb red meat

But the emphasis is on dumb

It's a flagrantly unconstitutional proposal and flag burning is affirmed free speech/expression by SOTUS. We always say the 1A exists to protect unpopular speech and that's what this is.

Please stop giving the other side ammo even if it's the height of hypocrisy for Lefty to talk as if they're the guardians of Free Speech instead of censorship
