Quote:

Disney+ has reportedly canceled the "Star Wars" series "Acolyte" created by showrunner Leslye Headland - who promised it would be infused with LGBTQ themes - after only one season amid low ratings.

Lucasfilm has opted out of having a second season for the female-centric, Sith-focused series, sources told Deadline. The eight-part series launched on June 4 after scoring numerous glowing headlines that helped it land a strong opening with 4.8 million views in its first day on the streamer with its first two episodes.

However, it struggled with luke-warm reviews and poor ratings, falling out of the top 10 by the third week, the outlet noted. The series remained there until the finale, when it finally cracked into the 10th spot, with 335 million minutes, something that is believed to be the lowest ever for a "Star Wars" series finale, the outlet noted.

Get woke, the show croaks.

We've talked at length on here how lucrative properties are skinned and draped over LBGTQ+ themes. They never do well.

Start something new and make it gay from the beginning. Don't try to debauch an existing property.

Leave Star Wars alone.

Trump will fix it.

Well, the show sucked, so there's that.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

In fairness, the writing, casting and acting was all so terrible that the woke BS was hardly noticeable.

I have always loved Star Wars, but that's not to say I think every Star Wars product is good or great, but it probably does mean I'm going to give it every opportunity to connect with me. I watched 2 episodes of The Acolyte. The writing was bad, IMO, and the plot didn't hook me. I'll probably finish it off at some point, but there's just too much good stuff to watch and not enough time to watch it to put effort on subpar shows.

Kenobi - bad
Ahsoka - meh
The Madalorian - very good
Andor - very good
The Book of Boba Fett - meh with some good parts

Lol, true. You can chalk this this up to "go woke, go broke" if it makes you feel better. But the real reason it got such bad reactions which resulted in the cancellation was the writing and much of the acting was simply abyssmal.

They generally make so much money that they push some boundaries in these shows. Now they just blatantly cross the boundaries and it is good to see the public is pushing back and hitting them in the only place they will feel it: their pockets.

Being creative and starting something new for their consumers is not the only or even primary objective. They want to destroy existing conventions and redefine normalcy. That is the primary objective.

The reason the writing is bad is because the writer tried jam her square peg concepts and ideas into the round hole of existing canon. Her motivation for doing so inevitably result in a bad product. As far as the terrible acting, why were they chosen if they were so bad? Surely there is at least some decent talent from the ranks of starving actors out there.

But to throw the actors a bone, bad writing and bad directing can certainly make an actor look worse than they might otherwise be.

I have faded completely off Star Wars since they butchered episodes 1-3. Hell, I was rooting for the empire by episode 9. That being said, Rogue One was the best thing they put out in years. You knew it was going to be a tough ending based on Star Wars canon, but the whole thing was really well done. Solo was probably the second best thing to come out. Gave closure to little oddities only Star Wars nerds paid attention to such as 12 parsecs and the dice hanging in the millennium falcon's "rear view mirror."

They should do a star wars spin off where they are all space communists that fly around the galaxy visiting random planets for seemingly no other reason than to interfere with their culture and development while simultaneously telling themselves they would never do that.

introduce some new tech like a the "delivery beam". Instead of having to send a ship to the planet surface they could delivery beam themselves down by this fancy machine that works like magic.

Maybe have a few no name characters die every episode for tension. but no real threat to anyone we grow to know and love.

That's what happens when your writers and actors are DEI hires.

None of Disney Star Wars should be considered cannon, just as Amazon "Rings" should be regarded as anti-cannon, phase 4 Marvel should be ignored, and Indiana jones ended at the Last Crusade.

They handed the creative keys to bitter hacks who retcon heroes into villains (or failures) and destroy the cannon. None of them deserve your dollar.

Maybe, but this may blow your mind as well....there's plenty of crappy scripts written by straight people. Whooooaaaa, right?!

Listen, the little bits of "woke" stuff thrown in where just dumb cherries on top of the already horrible icing. And yes, I do believe Kathleen Kennedy had an agenda when making this show. And yes, I'm laughing at all of the woke Tiktokers crying about its cancellation.

But the show sucked regardless of any wokeness, not because of it.

You're right to a degree. The overall concepts and motivations went against Star Wars canon and they were horribly written. I just think the overall issue was the lack of talent behind this show (writing, directing, and acting), not the woke motivations driving those producing the show.

And for sure at least one actress was chosen due to an agenda....the stupid green Jedi master who is undoubtedly one of the worst actors I've seen in years is Headlund's wife, lol. She was clearly chosen because of an agenda....nepotism.

U.S. In a galaxy not so far, far away, gamers are gearing up for the release of the latest installment in the Star Wars franchise: Star Wars: Galactic Lesbians.

In Galactic Lesbians, players step into the boots of Jedi Knight Meg Virks, a fierce and empowered nonbinary warrior with a penchant for both lightsaber battles and smoking cigarettes with her cats. But what sets Meg apart from her Jedi predecessors is her trusty steed: a sleek Subaru Landspeeder, complete with rainbow decals and a bumper sticker that reads "I Find Your Lack Of Sass Disturbing."

"We wanted to create a game that truly reflects the diversity of the Star Wars gaming community," said game designer Karlee Jenkins (Xe/they). "And what better way to do that than to cater to .000001% of the Star Wars fanbase? It's the epitome of representation."

Agree to disagree. Here is a recent quote :
Quote:

"They're in a matriarchal society. As a gay woman, I knew it would read that their sexuality is queer, but there also aren't any men in their community," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "So a closeness between the two of them would be natural… I would say it's really reductive to call them lesbians. I think it means you're not really paying attention to this story."
She knew exactly what she was writing and how it would be received. Yet she decided to do it anyway. You have to ask why she wanted to write a story about a matriarchal society with no men that she knew everyone would see as gay. Knowing the vast majority of consumers are not gay and aren't interested in that content means her agenda drove the writing. All of the canon violations and other stupidity is mostly fallout from that.

As far as the rest of the team, there is this:

Quote:

Creating a diverse writers' room for "The Acolyte" is important to Headland, not just in terms of staffing writers of different races, genders and sexual orientations, but also with varying levels of "Star Wars" franchise familiarity.
DEI was "important". We all know that when DEI is "important", talent suffers. And she admits to hiring creative staff unfamiliar with canon so it should come as no surprise that canon is violated. AT least that you can attribute to incompetency.

But even then, one could argue that 'diversity' would include people that have no idea what they are writing about.
The best way to keep evil men from wielding great power is to not create great power in the first place.

Woke hurt this series. The product being the suck hurt this series.

But the single biggest reason it bombed is the same reason Furiosa bombed.

Girl power/girl boss fatigue. As noted on the E board, Kennedy/Lucasfilm has spent a decade chasing an audience that doesn't exist. Complete over saturation of girl everything in to action, adventure, sci-fi, fantasy, etc, has turned off the young(er) male audience. Films/series in these genres will under perform at best and completely bomb at worst without a solid young male audience.

101 type of stuff.
