It works and has worked for quite a while. The most famous television ad in the history of Presidential elections, Johnson's "Daisy Ad", played solely to the idea the Goldwater would embroil the US in a nuclear exchange with the USSR. It was run once and is still discussed to this day.

We see plenty of fear mongering here, albeit from another direction. Does a day go by where one or more posters doesn't proclaim that a Harris victory will be the end of the Republic or that if Trump loses it's all over? Granted the DNC is taking the fear approach to ridiculous levels but both party's use it.

Obviously the OP is asking a rhetorical question. And we know the Democrats are going to use that line of attack against any Republican candidate.

"The danger of Ron Desantis!"
"The danger of JD Vance!"
Etc.

But Republicans have to accept this is the Dems gameplan and counter it with their own gameplan to appeal to the common, low-info voter. That means stop crying about how this line of attack doesn't make sense. Stop playing into the Dem's hand by focusing on it and just trying to shout louder than they are that "No he's not a danger!"

Come up with a reason for the common middle ground voter to ignore it or completely dismiss it.
A reason for them to say, "Well, I don't know about that, but I do know that crime is way up, the cost of living is way up, and etc etc ever since the Dems took over."

The common voter just wants to vote for a positive reason. Absent a positive reason to vote you can also get them to vote if there is an extremely negative reason to drive them to thd polls - i.e. voting against the candidate they view negatively. And that's clearly the Dem/media gameplan. They realize that Hillary lost because she was so freaking unpopular. So in response they've spent 8 years painting Donald Trump even worse than her. He's not going to be able to undo that with his trademark insults and tweets that to date have only worked against extremely unpopular candidate Hillary in 2016.

The Dems have learned and adjusted since 2016. The Reps under Trump haven't - they just seem hellbent on proving that they can be obstinate and still win. We'll see if that strategy can win.

The reason that Trump is demonized by the media is because he is a wealthy straight white man who is a Republican. Envy is what drives them more than anything when it comes to their hatred of Trump. Socialism literally stems from envy of other people's wealth. So, of course they hate billionaires, especially when they are Republicans.

Actually, the condition of this country was in really good shape under Clinton. I think that is mostly because of excellent opposition from the Republican Congress led by Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.
