There's no problem with the production of power. This is ultimately a local issue. Be pissed at the county judge, mayor, city council, etc.

If I remember right, everyone thought the eye would hit Mexico until it turned north with less than 2 days notice. You could argue they should have done more "just in case", but I'm not really blaming anyone for not being more prepared.

My new favorite hobby is taking some fat rips and watching Hidalgo youtube interviews in super fast or super slow playback.

It doesn't matter which, Hildalgo is hilarious in any speed.

I think there's plenty to criticize LH about, but...

My father-in-law is on the Houston Emergency Planning Committee, and here's how those meetings go when something like a hurricane happens. They go around the table and talk to people from Public Works, Water, Parks and Rec and CenterPoint, among others. As they make their way around, each group talks about where they are staged and what the response time should and could be. So if CP...a vendor...says that they are ready to go and can provide information on where crews are staged and how many outside crews they will be taking on from other states, and what substations can handle a re-route should one be needed, etc, all you can do is take them at their word. "We're good" doesn't mean she's not done this.

She may not be the best in the world at her job and I did not vote for her, but her telling DP that "We're good" after being briefed a number of times over from her committee is not a failure on her part. Unfortunately for her, she's where the buck stops.

My FIL said that he felt like she was back in plenty of time, given that we didn't know the path was moving as far north as it eventually did. He does this **** for a living, so I'll take his word. She was back by Sunday evening, and FIL left our dinner early Sunday evening for another meeting/briefing that lasted well in to Monday.

I don't get why her being gone and returning is such an issue, and we don't feel the same about Abbott.

Goodness...crazy how unrealistic and out of touch so many people are nowadays. I feel like us being conditioned to a lifestyle of hyper convenience and comfort is largely to blame.

It's like the insane mouthbreathing liberals who thought Ted Cruz should have cancelled his trip to Cancun and gone door to door fixing peoples water heaters and busted pipes during the freeze a few yrs back...as if the stuff he is really tasked with doing can't be handled by phone calls, texts and emails.
